Ez igen egyszerű, a „day before yesterday” miatt, mivel ez egy konkrét múltbeli időpontra vonatkozik, Past Simple igeidőt kell használni.
 

2.     Have you seen George Clooney’s last movie? Yes, I ....

D: have                       

 

Beugratós kérdés! A ’last’ szó ne zavarjon meg minket, mert nem a cselekvésre (see), hanem a filmre vonatkozik. Mivel konkrét múltbeli időpontra vonatkozó időhatározó nincs benne, így Presen Perfect Simple igeidőt kell használni.            
                      

3.     In the past, people ... to the beach more often.
A: did go
B: used to go              
C: use to go
D: go

Múltbeli, már befejeződött, időszakra voantkozik, így a USED TO-t kell használni.

4.     Forty years ago, people ... more.
A: had read
B: will read
C: used to read           
D: has read

Ugyanaz, mint az előző.

5.     How long ... for the Biology test?
A: have you been studying                              
B: has you been studying
C: will you studied
D: studied

 

„How long” (óta, mióta) miatt klasszikus Present Perfect Continious mondat.

 

6.     I ... for the Literature test since September and I still have a lot to revise.
A: was studying
B: has studying
C: had studying
D: have been studying            

 

„Since September” – tehát szeptember óta – miatt ez is Present Perfect Continuous lesz.
 

7.     When we watched TV together we always voted ... what to watch.
A: in
B: on              
C: for
D: at
 

„to vote on” – megszavaz valamit – ezt meg kell jegyezni

 

8.     He was already winning the competition. He was only running ... the clock.
A: on
B: for
C: against                   
D: back
 

„to run against the clock” – csak az idő az ellenfele – kifejezés, meg kell jegyezni

 

9.     What the hell are you talking …?

„to talk about something” - valamiről beszélni

Ez pedig egy 3rd conditional/feltételes mód múlt mondat: if+ past perfect simple + would have+ ige 3. alakja

to regret doing something – megbánta, hogy csinált valami/-ING alakot kell használni, és egy olyan cselekvésre vonatkozik, amit korábban csináltunk és azt bántuk meg

to freeze over – befagy (pl. tó)
