Every person has some impact on the earth and leaves an invisible footprint. You leave a mark when you are creating carbon dioxide and the total amount of CO2 you create is your carbon footprint. If your carbon footprint is big, you have a harmful impact on the planet. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, which means it contributes to the greenhouse effect. So, for example, your carbon footprint grows bigger and bigger every time you use fossil fuels to keep your house warm or to run your car.
What can you do to make your carbon footprint smaller?
First of all, try using less fossil fuels and electricity of course! It is quite easy because all you have to do is turn off your appliances that run on electricity when you are not using them. Lower the temperature in your house - there doesn’t have to be tropical heat at home. Walk and use your bike more often, which is also good for keeping you fit and healthy. Last, but not least, try to produce less garbage and start recycling and reusing anything you can. This way, your carbon footprint will not only be smaller, but you will also do something to protect our environment and the future of our earth.
