Number 8. Colossal Curl. New to Florida’s Adventure Island this year, the Colossal Curl sends up to four riders at a time on a clover-shaped raft through numerous turns before ending up in a half-pipe that causes the feeling of weightlessness.

Number 7. Scorpion’s Tail. This water slide at Noah’s Water Park in Wisconsin boasts being America’s first to have a nearly vertical loop. In order to ensure the safety of its riders, the slide is equipped with computer controlled sensors that make sure there’s enough water and momentum to propel a rider through the upside down parts.

Number 6. Wildebeest. Deemed the world’s number one water park ride by ‘Amusement Today’ magazine, Wildebeest can be found at Holiday World’s Splashin’ Safari in Indiana. It’s also the second longest water park ride on Earth, covering more than two acres of land.

Number 5. Mammoth. The world’s longest water coaster is Mammoth, also located at Holiday World. It towers seven stories at its highest point, and sends riders frontwards, backwards and sideways through numerous pitch-black tunnels.

Number 4. Family Boomerango. Asia’s largest water park, and one of the most visited in the world, is China’s Chimelong Water Park. It’s home to the Family Boomerango, a group raft ride that sends guests through a tornado-like slide at high speeds.

Number 3. King Cobra. King Cobra, located at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, is five stories tall and features a cobra head meant to “swallow” riders as they slip and slide back and forth in its mouth, water gushing from its fangs.

Number 2. Walhalla Wave. According to The Travel Channel, the Walhalla Wave at SeaWorld San Antonio has the tallest wave wall in the world. Riders sit in a clover-shaped tube and whizz through a 720-degree corkscrew spiral and a surprise 50-degree drop.

Number 1. Mile High Flyer. At Water World in Colorado, the Mile High Flyer was added in 2012 at a cost of $4.5 million. The state-of-the-art thrill ride has a 1000-foot-long track and a 360 degree loop.

An estimated 2,000 people fell victim to a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked Nepal on Saturday 25th April. Nepal has declared a “state of emergency” after a massive earthquake hit just 80 km northwest of its capital city Kathmandu.

The earthquake, with its epicenter at Lamjung, Nepal, hit early Saturday afternoon and was followed by at least fifeteen aftershocks. The 7.8 magnitude quake was the result of a thrust fault between the India plate and the overriding Eurasia plate.

The latest reports estimate the death toll to be more than 2,000. At least 4,700 have been reported injured.

An estimated 1,000 people were on Mt. Everest for the early hiking season he when the quake triggered an avalanche. An Indian army mountaineering team has recovered 18 bodies so far.

Among those killed in the avalanche on Everest was Google executive Dan Fredinburg.
