You might think you need a lot of coffee to get you through the day – but it’s probably nothing compared to Helene Marsot, who drinks up to 100 cups a DAY. A taste tester for Dunkin’ Brands’ coffee, Helene is responsible for overseeing the quality of the drinks the company produces and sells.

During a standard week, the quality assurance manager estimates she gets through hundreds of different coffees on trips around the world. She said: “As a coffee quality assurance expert I will say that a good cup of coffee is a clean and uniform coffee with acidity, body, sweetness and mouthfeel in proper proportion. With coffee, there are so many variables that can impact the flavour.”

Even though she may not finish every cup, she insists the amount of coffee she drinks actually has a positive effect on her health. Helene, based in Canton, Massachusetts, USA, has been working in her current role since 2005 – sampling tens of thousands of cups of coffee in the past nine years.

As well as her own tasting, Helene oversees Dunkin’s coffee lab testers based both in the U.S. and in countries the drink is produced. She added: “It starts from the tree and finishes in the cup, but there are more than 100 steps in between – coffee is full of surprises and experiences.”

Each year, Dunkin’ Donuts sells more than 1.8 billion cups of hot and iced coffee globally. And on their website the brand claims some of their coffee tasters test up to 600 cups each day. Helene said: “I like that you can adjust any coffee to your taste and your mood: from a dark roast to a light roast, a drip brew, an espresso or a French press. You can also adjust the flavour with cream or no cream, sugar or no sugar, and by serving it hot or iced.”

Influenza, megfázás – Hogyan ne legyünk betegek? https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/hogyan-ne-legyunk-betegek-telen/ Sat, 01 Mar 2025 20:00:19 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/hogyan-ne-legyunk-betegek-telen/ Winter is a beautiful season, but unfortunately, it is also the season of illnesses. Getting those layers of clothes on when you go out in the cold weather is necessary, but let’s see what else you can do to prevent catching a cold, the flu or other winter sicknesses.

Eat more fruits and vegetables

Fibre has many health benefits, including lowering the risk of some health issues. Eat more of vitamin C rich fruits such as orange, lemon or cauliflower. Eating healthy, nutritious foods is essential to living a healthy life, and it is crucial in wintertime. Eat a lot of vegetables – kales or brussels sprouts for example. These veggies are full of fibre, antioxidants and are exceptionally nutritious.

Drink more water

Staying hydrated during the winter days is a great way to boost your immune system and avoid getting sick. On a cold winter night, it is nice to have your favourite green tea, but don’t forget to drink at least 2 litres of water every day. Drink a glass of water every hour to maintain your energy levels and brain functions – and to avoid getting sick.

Work out

Regular physical exercise can improve your health in general and can affect your mood positively. Working out also reduces the risks of heart disease, stress, and respiratory infections. Get active for at least 30 minutes every day, and your body will thank you!

Get vaccinated

To protect against seasonal flu, the best thing you can do is to get vaccinated. Flu vaccines help the immune system producing antibodies that protect against the flu. The vaccine can prevent up to 60% of flu infections, so getting the flu shot and living a healthy life will save you from getting sick.

Practice good hygiene

Wash your hands often! Or carry around a pocket-sized hand sanitizer to clean your hands anywhere you are. Viruses can enter our system through our nose, mouth or even eyes. Don’t touch your face with your hands unless they are clean! Washing your hands regularly throughout the day, especially if you use public transport, or have physical contact with other people, can help to protect against viral infections.

Clean up

Other than our hands, viruses can also survive on other surfaces like metal, plastic or paper. During the day, we touch many objects, and our mobile phones, computer keyboards, and money are constantly in our hands. No wonder that these everyday items host many viruses and bacteria. Disinfect your desk and regularly used items with alcohol-based cleaning products to lower the risk of infections.

Keep the air clean

We all like to arrive at our warm home after a long day of work. Especially in winter, we can’t wait to finally get home and warm up our cold bodies. However, we often forget about changing the air in the house. Open the windows as soon as you arrive home, to clean the air! Common colds and the flu are respiratory infections. This means that they travel through the air that we breathe. Let fresh air in to reduce the risk of germs staying inside.

Don’t get too close

During the flu season it is a good idea to stay two arms’ length away from each other. As viruses can travel through the air, they can be inhaled easily from a sick person’s exhale. If you use public transport, try to keep your distance from others. If you work in an office with many others, make sure to let fresh air in at least two or three times a day. When someone from your household got sick, try to avoid physical contact with them and boost your immune system with some vitamins and a lot of water.

Eminem opens Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in Detroit – Megnyílt az igazi Mom’s Spaghetti (szövegértés, szókincs) https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/eminem-opens-moms-spaghetti-restaurant-in-detroit-megnyilt-az-igazi-moms-spaghetti-szovegertes-szokincs/ Fri, 01 Oct 2021 06:54:31 +0000 https://www.5percangol.hu/?p=51256 Eminem is serving up more than just bars with his next venture. He’s serving mom’s spaghetti, literally.

The rapper has teamed up with Union Joints Restaurant Group to launch a restaurant called Mom’s Spaghetti in his hometown of Detroit. The restaurant opened Sept. 29.

As fans know, the moniker comes from the famous line in Eminem’s 2002 hit song “Lose Yourself,” in which he raps, “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.”

A 30-second trailer promoting the new food joint starts off with a shot of the Detroit skyline. The rest of the clip reveals the menu, which includes, of course, spaghetti, with or without meatballs, and a s’ghetti sandwich.

This isn’t the first time Eminem has brought his lyrics to life. He hosted a pop-up in 2017 and also donated pasta to front-line workers during the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020.

Mit volt Ötzi, az 5300 éve múmia utolsó vacsorája? https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/mit-volt-otzi-az-5300-eve-mumia-utolso-vacsoraja/ Sun, 15 Jul 2018 15:22:59 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/mit-volt-otzi-az-5300-eve-mumia-utolso-vacsoraja/ The last supper of Oetzi the Iceman revealed

Scientists have revealedthat the last meal of Oetzi the Iceman, the frozen hunter who died 5,300 years ago in the Alps, was well-balanced but also alarmingly high in fat.

After putting the stomach contents through a battery of tests, including DNA matching and microscopic inspections, the researchers found traces of red deer and ibex meat and plenty of ibex fat, ancient einkorn wheat, and traces of toxic fern.

The study, published in Current Biology, gives a rare glimpse into what was on the menu during the Copper Age.

Though the researchers had previously examined Oetzi’s intestines, this was the first time they could look into his stomach.

Following Oetzi’s death, the organ moved upwards. It was not until 2009, 18 years after his remains were discovered near the Italy-Austria border, that a radiologist detected it behind the rib cage. And it was full. After slowly defrosting the body, the team took samples and rehydrated them.

The high-fat diet may have given the Iceman the energy he needed to survive a long track at high altitude, says Dr Frank Maixner of the Eurac Research Institute for Mummy Studies in Bolzano, Italy.

The events surrounding Oetzi’s death are still debated. His many recent wounds suggest violent conflict and one theory is that Oetzi fled into the mountains while being pursued.

But Maixner argues that the Iceman had eaten supplies of food he had prepared earlier, rather than a fresh kill, indicating that he had planned his final trek.

Talking about disabilities https://www.5percangol.hu/szokincsfejleszto_tananyagok/talking-about-disabilities/ Sun, 16 Oct 2016 14:25:01 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/talking-about-disabilities/ A disability is an aspect of a person that limits them in some way. Physical disabilities limit the way the body works. For example, some people need glasses because they do not see well. Other people do not walk and use wheelchairs. Developmental disabilities limit some people’s thinking. Other terms for this include retardation, mentally handicapped and special needs. For instance, Down Syndrome is an example of a developmental disability. People with disabilities try to live just like other people do. They sometimes need special equipment such as special cups to drink from or accessible buildings (with ramps, elevators, wide doorways and plenty of room beside the toilet, for example).

According to a recent survey two-thirds of people feel uncomfortable or awkward talking to somebody who is disabled. Firstly, because they feel sorry for people with disabilities. Secondly, because they are afraid that they will say something wrong. What’s important is that you respect the person and see them beyond their disability.

The most important question many people have is: What is appropriate terminology, for example, disability, impairment, or handicap? When you’re working with someone, you can ask what terminology he or she prefers. Some people prefer different terms, some get very upset about terminology, and some don’t care. Some people really appreciate the opportunity to talk about their disability and educate people about accessibility issues, and others don’t like to talk about it at all.

Before you help someone, ask whether they need help. In some cases a person with a disability might seem to be struggling, yet they are fine and would prefer to complete the task on their own.

If you are talking to a person who is hard of hearing and uses an interpreter, make sure you focus your interaction with the person you are talking to and not to the interpreter. If you will be speaking for some time with a person in a wheelchair, sit down so that you are at eye level with them so they don’t have to strain their neck to look up to you.

Avoidpotentially offensive terms or euphemisms. Commonly accepted terminology includes people with disabilities” and “a person with a visual/hearing/physical/speech/cognitive impairment”. Also, be aware of personal space. Some people who use a mobility aid, such as a wheelchair, walker, or cane, see these aids as part of their personal space. Don’t touch, move, or lean on mobility aids. This is also important for safety.
