Twins competing in the same event is not uncommon at the Olympic level. But the Luiks are believed to be the first identical triplets to compete against each other.

The 30-year-old sisters, from the southern university town of Tartu, only took up long distance running when they were 24.

“We have been active since childhood, we love dancing, we love to be active and this pushed us to professional sports,” Lily said. Liina, who got the sisters to start running, said long distances appealed to them more than the technical nature of sprinting. After a couple of years, they realised they were good enough to compete internationally and decided to try for the Games, under the slogan “Trio to Rio”.

Woman Proposes To The Boy Band Singer She Fell In Love With At Age 12 https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/woman-proposes-to-the-boy-band-singer-she-fell-in-love-with-at-age-12/ Thu, 26 May 2016 09:27:23 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/woman-proposes-to-the-boy-band-singer-she-fell-in-love-with-at-age-12/ When Louisa was a 12-year-old girl living in Germany, she hung a poster above her bed of a boy band musician with a mohawk and eyeliner.

Little did she know that a decade later, that same guy would be her fiancé. In a new ad for Dove, we meet a real couple named Louisa and Rob and learn about their unlikely love story, which culminates in a romantic proposal.

The pair first met in the courtyard of their Los Angeles apartment complex. Louisa was talking on the phone with her mom in German when Rob overheard the conversation and introduced himself. It came up that he used to be in a boy band in Europe — yes, that boy band.

“In that moment, it kind of clicked,” Louisa says in the video. “I just thought to myself, ‘Oh my god. I was totally in love with you when I was 12.’”As for Rob, he was instantly hooked on Louisa.

“I knew I that I loved her pretty much within the first week,” he says. “She’s very grounded. She’s that part that I always wanted. She’s that part of my life that I always needed.”

Never one to follow tradition, Louisa decided she wanted to pop the question to Rob. The location? The very spot where they first met. Watch the adorable moment unfurl in the video above.

Lenni vagy nem lenni – azaz hogyan hangsúlyozzuk szépen azt, hogy “To be or not to be” :) https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/prince-charles-plays-hamlet-in-brilliant-bbc-sketch-alongside-benedict-cumb/ Mon, 25 Apr 2016 10:21:58 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/prince-charles-plays-hamlet-in-brilliant-bbc-sketch-alongside-benedict-cumb/

Prince Charles plays Hamlet in brilliant BBC sketch alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Dame Judi Dench

The Prince of Wales – briefly – became the Prince of Denmark on Saturday.

Prince Charles appeared on stage at Stratford as part of a stellar cast in Shakespeare Live, a light-hearted tribute to Britain’s most famous writer, 400 years to the day after he died.

Prince Charles uttered Shakespeare’s most famous line “to be or not to be”, managing to achieve not just every actor’s dream, but trump Dame Judi Dench.

His short contribution came as part of a complex and witty homage to Shakespeare and his soliloquy from Hamlet known the world over.

Prince Charles appeared alongside Tim Minchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Harriet Walter, David Tennant, Rory Kinnear, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and the RSC’s current Hamlet, Paapa Essiedu.

It was a fitting finale to a day of celebrations in Stratford that mixed solemnity, pomp, quite a bit of low farce – and royalty. William Shakespeare probably would have approved.

Thousands gathered in Stratford-Upon-Avon on Saturday to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of Britain’s most famous writer – and his birthday too.

Tributes were led by the Prince of Wales, who – before his appearance on the Stratford stage – laid a wreath on the grave of the playwright in Holy Trinity Church, and had a tour of New Place, the site where Shakespeare spent the last 19 years of his life and wrote some of his most famous works, including it is believed his last play, The Tempest.

Now an archeological site, in the process of being turned into a garden and visitor centre, Prince Charles inspected some of the finds: medieval dice, dominos and a thimble that could have been used by Shakespeare’s father, who was a leather worker. Or at least that is the optimistic interpretation of the curators.

His wreath was made out of generous sprigs of rosemary — reference to Ophelia’s final act of handing out the herb, “for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember.”

Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII’s secret love nest https://www.5percangol.hu/kozepfoku-olvasmanyok/anne-boleyn-and-henrys-viiis-secret-love-nest/ Tue, 08 Mar 2016 09:52:58 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/anne-boleyn-and-henrys-viiis-secret-love-nest/ P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }

Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII’s secret love nest: The charming cottage where (legend has it) king romanced second wife… while married to his first

With its stained glass windows depicting Elizabeth I and Edward VI, you might think that The Thatched Cottage – in the village of Stoke Mandeville, just outside Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire – has some kind of link to the Tudors. Well, local folklore has it that this was where Henry VIII would have clandestine meetings with Anne Boleyn while he was still married to his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.

In 1529, Stoke Mandeville, and the whole of the Aylesbury area, was inherited by Sir Thomas Boleyn, Anne Boleyn’s father. Henry had started taking an interest in Anne in 1526 and pursued her throughout the tail end of his marriage to Catherine, which finished in 1533.

Although Anne never actually lived in the house, she is said to have used it to entertain the King.

Anne is known locally as the ‘Fair Maid of Aylesbury’, although her early days were spent at the family’s Hever Castle in Kent. She later moved into Hampton Court to be with Henry and soon after they married their daughter, Elizabeth I, was born. But she failed to give Henry a son – having three miscarriages – and in 1536 he had her executed.

The Grade II listed house is certainly old enough to have been in existence for trysts between Anne and the King, who, in the early 1520s, had Anne’s sister Mary as his mistress. The Thatched Cottage is believed to be the oldest house in Stoke Mandeville and was built in 1409. There is a stone slab under the dining room floor confirming the date.

The property’s small stained glass windows – Elizabeth I in the sitting room, Edward VI in the dining room – are believed to be Victorian, but many of the three-bedroom cottage’s features date back to its earliest days, such as its original oak beams and bread oven. It is currently for sale through Michael Graham estate agents in Aylesbury for £535,000.

‘It was always our dream to live in a thatched cottage and we loved the property from the moment we saw it,’ says Paul Aughton, 56, who bought the property in 2011 with his partner Pearl, 55. ‘The only reason we are moving is to retire overseas.’

According to Pearl, admirers of the cottage often stop to take photographs of it. ‘Whenever there’s a wedding or christening at the church opposite, some of the guests point their cameras at our cottage to take photos, which is always a compliment.’

The thatched roof lasts about 25-30 years before needing to be replaced, Paul says, and the current one has about 20 more years of life in it. The main door to The Thatched Cottage is at the side of the property, which leads to an open-plan sitting room and dining room. The two rooms are divided by a double-sided fireplace with a brick hearth housing a large wood-burning stove and the original bread oven. The kitchen has fitted units with wooden butcher’s-block style worktops and black iron furnishings. In it, there are also natural stone floors and a lead-lined window. There is understairs storage and a separate utility room with a butler sink.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and a window overlooking the front garden. The second room is dual aspect with two lower-level lead-lined windows and another vaulted ceiling. Bedroom three is accessed via a separate staircase. Also, there is a study on the landing with built-in office furniture.

Gardens surround the property. At the back, there is a lawn area along with a summerhouse, timber workshop, decked barbecue area, pergola, patio and raised vegetable beds created from railway sleepers. The front garden is mainly laid to lawn but has an ancient stone well in a corner. There is room on the gravel driveway for up to three cars, and a white wooden latch gate is in keeping with the colour and style of the property.
