Batman (1989)

Tim Burton’s version gives us a darker, more complex version of Batman with Keaton leading the movie as Bruce Wayne. Alongside a great cast including Jack Nicholson and Kim Basinger and a cool soundtrack from Prince, Keaton showed us a Dark Knight with a tortured soul hiding behind his mask of wealth and power.

Pacific Heights (1990)

Keaton plays the awful, sadistic tenant who torments landlords Melanie Griffith and Matthew Modine by not paying rent and releasing cockroaches with hopes of forcing them into foreclosure and buying the place himself.   

Batman Returns (1992)

Keaton reprised his role in Batman Returns, again under the direction of Tim Burton. The film went further into the dark side of Bruce Wayne and Keaton gave an even more complex performance. Batman deals with the Penguin (Danny DeVito) bringing terror to Gotham City. Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Catwoman with her own vendetta.

Multiplicity (1996)

A slapstick cult comedy classic, Keaton plays Doug Kinney, a man who clones himself to manage his hectic life, oversee his business and still be there for his wife. Keaton’s performance is wonderfully versatile, as he plays multiple versions of the same character, each with different personalities.

Jackie Brown (1997)

In Quentin Tarantino’s movie Keaton plays agent Ray Nicolette, in a smaller role but making an impact with his cool, laid-back performance.

The Other Guys (2010)

In this hilarious buddy cop movie, two different New York City detectives (Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg) have an opportunity to step up like the top police officers they worship – only things don’t go well. Keaton plays their Captain Gene Mauch who is very much in charge,

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)

Oscar winning film Birdman brought a well-received return to fame for Keaton playing the role of Riggan Thomson, a once famous actor known for playing a superhero, struggling to revive his fading career on Broadway. Keaton’s vulnerable performance got him a Golden Globe for Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination.

Spotlight (2015)

In this Academy Award-winning film, Keaton is in a serious role as Walter “Robby” Robinson, editor of the Boston Globe’s investigative team. A true story of the newspaper’s investigation into the massive scandal of the Catholic Church’s cover-up of sexual abuse. Keaton and the cast’s performances gained a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance.

The Founder (2016)

In this interesting story Keaton took on the role of struggling salesperson Ray Kroc, the man who followed the American dream and transformed food chain McDonald’s from a single burger restaurant into a global empire. Keaton’s portrayal of Kroc is charismatic and chilling as he goes through moral complexities from ambition, greed, and success.

Spiderman: Homecoming (2017)

Knox Goes Away (2024)

Number 10. World’s Largest Airplane Graveyard. If retired fighter planes are your kind of thing, you’ll be happy to know that you can easily check out what the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group is storing. The boneyard located just outside of Tucson houses about 5 thousand defunct aircrafts.

Number 9. Colorado River Potash Mine. It may be considered by some to be a significant environmental hazard, but it’s hard to deny that from the air it’s absolutely stunning. The colored shapes are evaporation ponds used in the process of extracting potassium and salts. 

Number 8. Arizona Desert Landing Strips. There’s a great deal of speculation surrounding why these are unmarked and in the middle of nowhere. Those in the know say that even though the location lacks the telltale signs that it’s the property of the military, it belongs to the Arizona Army National Guard. 

Number 7. Herd of Hippos. While a lot of mammals, including humans, prefer to do their basking and lying around in the sun, for hippos it’s all about the mud. This massive relaxation moment was spotted in Tanzania. 

Number 6. The Badlands Guardian. That there’s a giant head wearing earbuds carved into the Alberta, Canada landscape is impressive. What’s downright fascinating is that the sculpting of the massive rock formation was done almost entirely by nature. Appropriately, the listening technology was the doing of humans, although it was coincidental. 

Number 5. The Wrecked Costa Concordia. For some time the luxury liner stayed right where it had crashed, just off the coast of an Italian island. After years spent partially underwater the ship was finally floated to the top so it could be towed away. 

Number 4. A Possible Sea Monster. Something enormous took a trek through a New Zealand bay, but what it was remains unclear. Whale was ruled out as the turns indicated by the path are too sharp, and boat got crossed off the list because there isn’t enough foam in the trail. 

Number 3. Great Big Target. As is often the case with strange symbols scrawled on the landscape, particularly in a barren area like the Nevada scrublands, it’s believed to be the work of either the US military or aliens. Guesses include bomb radius tester and UFO landing marker.

Number 2. Batman Symbol. Batman fans, rejoice. The Batcave has been located. It’s on U.S. Air Force’s 44th Fighter Squadron’s Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. It seems that it’s been there since the 1980s, which is around when the symbol was painted.

Number 1. Water Buffalo On The Move. It’s not clear where they were going, but this massive group of great big animals was seen wandering across a game reserve in Tanzania. It’s unlikely much got in their way.

The slick black replica, which comes with a fully operational flame thrower and hydraulic suspension, is set to be auctioned on November 30 at Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands, Surrey. Inspired by the car used in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, the rear-wheel drive Batmobile can reach a speed of 60mph (96 km/h) in less than five seconds.

Edward Bridger-Stille, from Historics auction house, said: ‘The car is like a dream for any Batman fan. It brings traffic to a standstill with people wanting to be photographed by it. It is a smooth driving car however there’s not a lot of all-round vision – it’s a bit like a fighter jet in that sense.’ He added: ’This vehicle is believed to be one of the best after-production, fully road-legal models ever made.’

Earlier this year, the original TV Batmobile was sold for £2.3million.

A Batman vigilante who stunned cops after marching a wanted “villain” into their station has been unmasked – as a Chinese takeaway delivery driver.

Caped crusader Stan Worby told gobsmacked officers at the counter: “I’ve caught this one for you. He’s all yours.” 

The masked crimefighter — captured on the Bradford police station’s CCTV — then vanished as mysteriously as he had appeared. Stan, 39, had dressed up as Batman for a joke as he watched a Bradford play Swansea in the Capital One Cup Final. But pal Danny Frayne called Stan and asked if he could take him to the police station. 

Joker Danny was said to have hit on the stunt after cops ordered him to give himself up. Stan told the Daily Telegraph: "It was a joke at the end of the day, and Danny wanted to go to the police station. “I had spoken to Danny during the week and tried to knock some sense into him. “It was getting on my nerves having police round all the time asking for him or his whereabouts. “Danny’s a good friend of mine and I’ve known him for 15 years or so. Who knows if I’ll be doing some more crime-fighting in the future?” His prisoner was taken to the cells on suspicion of burglary. 

Danny is thought to have got his tubby chum to don the hired Batman outfit — just like Del Boy’s hilarious version of the caped crusader in TV comedy Only Fools And Horses. A local joke shop told how a buyer in his 30s spent £49.99 on a Batman costume days earlier. An assistant said: “The one we sold is very similar.” 

City council leader David Green praised the local Dark Knight but joked: “I’ve yet to see a torched Batman image on the night sky above Bradford.” Frayne will face magistrates on Friday.

Sharon and Neil Vaughan decided to marry as Wonder Woman and Batman because they love wearing fancy dress. And if you are wondering what happened to the caped crusader’s sidekicks – Robin and the Joker were the best man and master of ceremonies.

Mrs Vaughan, 40, in red corset, blue hotpants, boots and a tiara and veil, made her entrance to the Wonder Woman theme tune. Her bridesmaids came as the PowerPuff girls while other guests included Superman, the Incredibles, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk and Captain America.

It did not seem to matter that the Batman outfit meant it was impossible to see most of the groom’s face. And despite wearing anything but traditional outfits, the groom and his best man still had a flower pinned to their outfits just as they would have in a buttonhole. Mr Vaughan, from Cullompton in Devon, said: ‘We are not particularly traditional and we wanted to have a fun day with our friends, so I suggested we have a themed wedding. “I have always wanted to be Batman, ever since I was a little boy and Sharon said she had always wanted to be Wonder Woman.”

Mrs Vaughan, an administrator, said the pair had saved thousands on traditional wedding accessories by having their wacky ceremony. “Our wedding was absolutely amazing and it cost us less than some couples would spend on just the dress,” she said. “We were not allowed to see each other’s costumes before the big day, but when I did see Neil he looked fantastic as Batman. We put a lot of effort into our costumes and our guests did as well. It was such a great day.”

Mr Vaughan, who owns a children’s entertainment business, proposed on Valentines Day. The couple, who have five children from previous relationships, will honeymoon in Australia.
