’Fit’ refers to size and shape:If your clothes fit you, they are just the right size, they are neither too big, nor too small. – A ’fit’ igét akkor használjuk, ha valami számban és méretben pont jó ránk, vagyis se nem túl kicsi, se nem túl nagy.

Például:These shoes fit me all right. I will buy them. – Ez a cipő pont jó rám. Megveszem.

These trousers don’t fit me – have you got a smaller size? – Nem jó rám ez a nadrág. Van kisebb méretben?

’Suit’ refers to colour, style etc.:– A ’suit’ igét akkor használjuk, ha valami jól áll nekünk, illik hozzánk, például szín vagy stílus.

Például: Green and blue suit me very well. – A zöld és a kék nagyon jól állnak nekem.

Do you think avantgarde style suits me? – Szerinted az avantgarde stílus jól áll nekem?

A ’suit’ igét akkor is használhatjuk, ha valami – pl. körülmény, megbeszélés – jó nekünk.

Például:Thursday will suit me very well for a meeting. – Csütörtök jó lesz nekem/alkalmas időpont a találkozóra.

‘Match’ refers to similarity in colour, pattern, style, etc: A ’match’ igét akkor használjuk, ha valami jól illik egymáshoz, megy egymáshoz (színben, mintában, stílusban)

Például:That curtain matches the colour of the walls. – A függöny színe jól megy a falak színéhez.

She dresses very elegantly. She always wears matching colours. – Nagyon elegánsan öltözik. Mindig egymáshoz illő színeket visel.

És egy kis gyakorlás. Döntsd el, hogy ’fit’, ’suit’ vagy ’match’ illik a mondatba!
