SAM : Yes, ma’am. A lot of water under the bridge.

ILSA : Some of the old songs, Sam.

SAM : Yes, ma’am.

ILSA : Where is Rick?

SAM: I don’t know. I ain’t seen him all night.

ILSA : When will he be back?

SAM: Not tonight no more. He ain’t coming. Uh, he went home.

ILSA: Does he always leave so early?

SAM: Oh, he never… well… he’s got a girl up at the Blue Parrot. He goes up there all the time.

ILSA: You used to be a much better liar, Sam.

SAM: Leave him alone, Miss Ilsa. You’re bad luck to him.

ILSA: Play it once, Sam, for old time’s sake.

SAM: I don’t know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.

ILSA: Play it, Sam. Play “As Time Goes By.”

SAM: Oh I can’t remember it, Miss Ilsa. I’m a little rusty on it.

ILSA: I’ll hum it for you. Sing it, Sam.

SAM: You must remember this,

A kiss is just a kiss,

A sigh is just a sigh,

The fundamental things apply,

As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo,

They both say I love you,

On that you can rely,

No matter what the future brings,

As time goes by.

RICK: Sam, I thought I told you never to play…

RENAULT: (to Ilsa) Well, you were asking about Rick and here he is. Mademoiselle, may I present – RICK: Hello, Ilsa.

ILSA: Hello, Rick.

RENAULT: Oh, you’ve already met Rick, Mademoiselle?

RENAULT: Well then, perhaps you also…

ILSA: This is Mr. Laszlo.

LASZLO: How do you do?

RICK: How do you do?

LASZLO: One hears a great deal about Rick in Casablanca .

RICK: And about Victor Laszlo everywhere.

LASZLO: Won’t you join us for a drink?

RENAULT: Oh, no, Rick never —

RICK: Thanks. I will.

RENAULT: Well! A precedent is being broken. Er, Emil!

LASZLO: This is a very interesting cafe. I congratulate you.

RICK: And I congratulate you.

LASZLO: What for?

RICK: Your work.

LASZLO: Thank you. I try.

RICK: We all try. You succeed.

RENAULT: I can’t get over you two. She was asking about you earlier, Rick, in a way that made me extremely jealous.

ILSA: I wasn’t sure you were the same. Let’s see, the last time we met —

RICK: It was “La Belle Aurore.”

ILSA: How nice. You remembered. But of course, that was the day the Germans marched into Paris.

RICK: Not an easy day to forget.

ILSA: No.

RICK: I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray, you wore blue.

ILSA: Yes. I put that dress away. When the Germans march out, I’ll wear it again .

RENAULT: Ricky, you’re becoming quite human. I suppose we have to thank you for that, Mademoiselle.

LASZLO: Ilsa, I don’t wish to be the one to say it, but it’s late.

RENAULT: So it is. And we have a curfew here in Casablanca. It would never do for the Chief of Police to be found drinking after hours and have to fine himself.

LASZLO: I hope we didn’t overstay our welcome.

RICK: Not at all.

WAITER: Your check, sir.

RICK: Oh, it’s my party.

RENAULT: Another precedent gone. This has been a very interesting evening. I’ll call you a cab. Gasoline rationing, time of night.

LASZLO: We’ll come again.

RICK: Any time.

ILSA: Say good night to Sam for me.

RICK: I will.

ILSA: There’s still nobody in the world who can play “As Time Goes By” like Sam.

RICK: He hasn’t played it in a long time.

ILSA: Good night.

LASZLO: Good night.

RICK: Good night.

Black Friday https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/black-friday/ Fri, 27 Nov 2015 07:19:50 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/black-friday/ Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since the early 2000s, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, and most major retailers open very early (more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but California and some other states observe “The Day After Thanksgiving” as a holiday for state government employees. Many non-retail employees and schools have both Thanksgiving and the following Friday off, which, along with the following regular weekend, makes it a four-day weekend, and so increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005. Similar stories resurface year after year at this time, portraying hysteria and a shortage of stock.

Some sources state that the term originated in Philadelphia, used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic that would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. An alternative explanation is that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss (“in the red“) from January through November, and “Black Friday” indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or “in the black“.

For many years, it was common for retailers to open at 6:00 a.m., but in the late 2000s many had crept to 5:00 or even 4:00. This was taken to a new extreme in 2011, when several retailers (including Target, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Best Buy, and Bealls opened at midnight for the first time.

There have been reports of violence occurring between shoppers on Black Friday. Since 2006, there have been 7 reported deaths and 98 injuries throughout the United States. It is common for prospective shoppers to camp out over the Thanksgiving holiday in an effort to secure a place in front of the line for a better chance at getting desired items.

Some interesting facts:

Americans spend more time shopping on Thanksgiving weekend than they do visiting Disney hot spots.

Many stores hold Black Friday sales all weekend, and for those shoppers who’d rather not venture into a store at all, there are plenty of deals to be found online. The Monday after Thanksgiving weekend was first given the name “Cyber Monday” in 2005 by Shop.org, and has since become a nearly as important to retailers as Black Friday.

Some deals are not really deals at all. A new study shows that 14 percent of products will have prices on Black Friday similar to their normal in-store costs, while 17 percent of items will be more expensive on the shopping holiday than they are on Amazon. Books, movies and music have the best bargain prices on Black Friday, while furniture and jewelry are discounted the least, according to the study.

The shopping holiday is famous for people looking for deals on inexpensive technology or gadgets like TVs or Xbox game consoles, but low-cost items and household basics are big sellers during Black Friday. Pajamas are a big seller, too. Some locations sell out of pajamas and other household items.

Retailers in other countries have watched U.S. stores generate huge sales on Black Friday and have started offering their own deals the day after Thanksgiving — even if they don’t celebrate turkey day.

According to ShopAdvisor, which tracked Black Friday prices for 6,000 items in 2013, the average discount is only about 5 percent — far less than just before Christmas, when discounts can reach 17.5 percent. In fact, the Saturday before Christmas — not Black Friday — is the biggest shopping day of the year for many retailers, both brick-and-mortar and online. So big, in fact, that some have started calling it Super Saturday.

Penny: Oh, thanks. Got a couple new outfits for work.

Howard: How does it feel knowing your fiancée’s job is to go out and flirt with doctors, looking like that, while you sit here, you know, looking like this?

Leonard: She doesn’t flirt with doctors.

Penny: Yeah. It’s all very professional.

Amy: You know when you bend over, I can see down your shirt?

Penny: Okay, good.

Bernadette: Speaking of new careers, how are things going with dark matter, Sheldon?

Sheldon: Oh, yeah, I’d have to say it’s the most exciting time in the history of the field.

Bernadette: Oh. What’s going on?

Sheldon: I started doing it.

Raj: You know, the government funded the biggest experiment yet to detect dark matter.

Leonard: Yeah, I’ve read about that, they’re sending research teams down into abandoned salt mines.

Raj: You know, Sheldon, if we apply to be one of those teams, we could be on the ground floor of something big, not just for theoretical physics but for astrophysics as well.

Penny: Wait, hang on, you guys are gonna work in a mine?

Sheldon: Why not?

Penny: You had a panic attack when we went through the car wash.

Sheldon: Perhaps the emotion you’re referring to was shock at you having something cleaned.

Leonard: I think what Penny meant is, the thought of you two in a mine is kind of funny, it’s like a cat riding a Roomba.

Howard:If they get scared, they’ll have those hats with the lights on them, ’cause down there it’s night-night all the time.

Bernadette: Maybe they could ride around in one of those mine carts that go ee-oo-ee-oo-ee-oo.

Leonard: Yeah, it’ll help them get away when they see a g-g-ghost.

Sheldon: Are they making fun of us?

Raj: Yup.
Sheldon: I miss the old days when I couldn’t tell.

Body language of the world https://www.5percangol.hu/kozepfok_irasbeli/body-language-of-the-world-a-travellers-guide-to/ Fri, 30 Jan 2015 10:12:40 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/body-language-of-the-world-a-travellers-guide-to/ Body language of the world: A traveller’s guide to avoiding faux pas

EVERY country has its cultural quirks. To avoid being the subject of tut tuts and disapproving looks while you’re travelling, we take you through the top taboos from Japan to the Middle East.

JAPAN:
The most common greeting in Japan is the bow; the timing, posture and movement of which should reflect sincerity, respect and graciousness. The more mature the person, the deeper the head is lowered. Animproper bow hints at a lack of education and maturity. As a foreign visitor you are not expected to do this ritual faithfully – a gentle nod will do.

LATIN AMERICA:
Personal space boundaries vary from country to country, but in Latin America they are set closer than in Anglo-Saxon countries. People stand closer when talking to one another, and casual touching of the arm or shoulder during conversation is not unusual. Good friends will typically greet each other with an abrazo (hug) or beso(kiss), and it’s quite normal to see people of the same sex walking down the street arm in arm.

MEXICO:
In Mexico, when paying for something, place your cash or credit card directly into the hand of the person you’re dealing with. This applies in cafes and restaurants, as well as hotels and shops. Leaving payment on the counter can beinterpreted as a sign that you don’t respect the person enough to have contact with them.

NEW ZEALAND:
The traditional greeting of New Zealand Maori is the simultaneous pressing of noses and forehead, known as the hongi. Such greetings are commonplace on marae, the open space in front of a Maori meetinghouse where visitors are welcomed, nowadays with a handshake at the same time as the hongi.

INDIA:
In India – as in much of Asia – it is the feet that are considered unclean. Do your utmost to avoid touching any part of someone else’s body with your foot or shoes, and if you do so, apologise straight away. Pointing the soles of your feet at someone is also offensive, so don’t prop your feet on chairs or tables while sitting, and take care how you arrange yourself when sitting on the floor.

10 dolog, amit eddig az M&M’s-ről nem tudhattál https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/10-dolog-amit-eddig-az-mms-rl-nem-tudhattal/ Mon, 24 Nov 2014 12:11:24 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/10-dolog-amit-eddig-az-mms-rl-nem-tudhattal/ 10 Things You May Not Know About M&Ms

M&Ms aren’t just a crunchy yet creamy chocolate treat, they’re a national treasure.

Here are 10 things you may want to know about the iconic candies.

Number 10. Their inspiration came from Spanish soldiers. During the Spanish Civil War, M&M founder Forrest Mars saw military men eating chocolate that had been coated with hardened sugar. He noticed that the shell kept the candy from melting, even under the sun’s glare. In 1941 he patented a process for their manufacture.

Number 9. The red ones were once thought to cause cancer. Therefore, in the mid 1970s they were discontinued and stayed that way for about a decade. The kicker is that the candies never contained Red Number 2, the dye thought to contribute the disease. M&M just pulled them because of the public’s perception of artificially red foods at the time.

Number 8. They’ve been to space more than 130 times. The first trip was upon request by crewmembers of the 1981 Columbia mission. After that, they just became a regular feature. For NASA’s final satellite launch in 2011, the company presented astronauts and team members with custom printed red, blue, and silver ones.

Number 7. The Obamas handed out very special ones for Halloween. The White House is typically well stocked with M&Ms, only the ones there are in custom boxes bearing the president’s signature. Last year, the fancy chocolates were given to the thousands of little ghosts and goblins who showed up on the doorstep of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Number 6. M&M’s turned down a chance to star in E.T. They were the first candy approached to play the role of the extra-terrestrial’s favorite sweet. When Universal wouldn’t provide them with a final script for review, they declined.

Number 5. Crispy M&Ms are making a triumphant return. They were discontinued in the mid 2000s, but some people never accepted that decision and have been campaigning for their re-release ever since. No doubt, there will much celebrating in January of 2015 when the crispy ones will once again grace candy aisles everywhere.

Number 4. Remembering tan M&Ms may be an indicator of age. The company kicked the light brown ones to the curb in 1995. Ever since, and by popular vote, blue ones have taken their place in the mix. Thus, talk of the tan coated candies would likely bewilder many a Millennial, and probably make them think you’re old.

Number 3. The green ones aren’t really an aphrodisiac. Not specifically, anyway. While there’s no substantiated evidence that the green coating makes a person more amorous, there’s science that confirms chocolate does.

Number 2. It’s possible to eat M&Ms with chopsticks. There’s even a world’s record for it. The number to beat is 115, and they have to be consumed within 3 minutes. That’s been the pinnacle of achievement since 2003.

Number 1. The color mix isn’t random. According to M&M, the content of each package is comprised mostly of blue, orange and green, at 24, 20, and 16 percent respectively. Yellow and brown are tied at 14 percent each. Bringing up the rear is red at 13 percent.

Did you know that America’s most famous home, White House, has a reputation for being among the most haunted in the country?

On numerous occasions, past residents and staff members at the White House have shared stories of hearing strange noises and sighting ghosts of historic figures.

According to History.com, Harry Truman, the 33rd US President once shared his experience about its spookiness with his wife in a letter, noting, “I sit here in this old house and work on foreign affairs, read reports, and work on speeches–all the while listening to the ghosts walk up and down the hallway and even right in here in the study“.

President Abraham Lincoln’s ghost has been known to be seen in the hallways or his former bedroom. During World War II, the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill allegedly saw Lincoln’s ghost by the fireplace while staying in the former president’s bedroom.

Another spooky story revolves around Abigail Adams, 2nd President John Adams’ wife. They moved to the White House when it was still under construction and had no heating system.

Abigail used to dry her clothes in the East room because it was the driest room in the house. Abigail’s ghost has reportedly been spotted walking out of the East room with her arms extended in front of her as if she were carrying loads of clean clothes.

The ghost of President Andrew Jackson is said to haunt the Rose Bedroom which used to be his room. The Washington Post notes that “one former White House seamstress claimed she felt him lean over her while hemming a in his old bedroom”.

Besides human ghost sightings, ABC News says that there have been reports of a black demon cat with glowing red eyes in the White House basement. The legend is that the cat generally shows up before a national disaster.

Do you think White House is haunted?

10 Famous People Who Were Once Homeless

Given the charmed lives many celebrities lead, it’s hard to imagine that they’ve ever had to go without. For many famous people, that is very far from the truth.

Here are 10 of them who were once homeless.

Number 10. Shania Twain. In her memoir, the multiple Grammy winner recounted the day she and her family took up residence in a shelter. A couple years later, Twain found herself alone and squatting in an abandoned house in Toronto.

Number 9. Ed Sheeran. Before finding fame as the lead singer of Thinking Out Loud, this musician lived on the streets for over 2 years. One of his frequent places to catch some shuteye was in a heating duct just outside Buckingham Palace.

Number 8. Hillary Swank. This actress had a dream, and her mother was fully committed to helping her achieve it. The problem is that once the two arrived in Los Angeles they had no money for a place to stay. While they saved up, the two lived out of their car.

Number 7. Tyler Perry. Believing in himself and his breakout play ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed’ cost the movie mogul his entire savings. In the six years it took the production to become the hit he knew it would be, Tyler spent a lot of time living in either his car or low-rent motels.

Number 6. Phil McGraw otherwise known as Dr. Phil. He’s built a 280 million dollar empire on making lives better, but when he was 12 he didn’t have a bed to call his own. While his father, also a psychologist, was interning it was a struggle to come up with just 5 dollars for a room at the Y.

Number 5. Drew Carey. Following a suicide attempt, Carey made the decision to leave Ohio and head to Los Angeles. He got stuck in Las Vegas for a while, and had no place to stay. He sold his plasma to make enough money for food, which was typically boxed macaroni and cheese.

Number 4. Rose McGowan. Much of her childhood was rocky and in her early teens she ran away from home. During the year she spent as one of America’s homeless she was lucky to make a friend and the two traveled the Pacific Northwest together.

Number 3. Steve Harvey. The comedian and game show host found himself on the streets after a gig fell through. He told himself the rough spell was temporary, but it ended up lasting for 3 years.

Number 2. Jewel. Her time without a home was brief, but nearly fatal. The singer has kidney issues and while without insurance couldn’t get medical attention. She said one day she found herself in the emergency room parking lot, sure she was dying.

Number 1. Daniel Craig. Before he was James Bond, he was a guy that slept on park benches. While trying to break into show business he was living in London and most of the time couldn’t afford a place to stay.

Which celebrity’s not-so-glamorous past are you most surprised by?

A brave shop assistant fought off armed robbers – with mineral water. Lolita Bezrukova, 33, was restocking her shelves when the armed thugs stormed into the shop in the city of Irkutsk in Russia.

Captured on CCTV, the hooded men are seen charging into the shop with one of them carrying a pistol. He then jumps on top of a refrigerator and screams at the woman to hand over the shop’s takings. When she tries to fend him off he becomes increasingly violent, sticking the gun in her face until she is filmed picking up the five-litre bottle of water and, swinging it above her head, chases them out.

As the pair fled into the street pursued by Bezrukova, stunned passersby watched in amazement.

Witness Efimiya Prokhorova, 27, said: “I saw these two hooded men running out of the shop and I instantly knew something was up. And then I saw this short brunette woman emerge with a huge bottle of water and set off after them down the street. It was almost comical, but also very brave of her. The robbers were clearly panicked and she was running after them shouting she would smash their butts.”

The no-nonsense shop assistant told Russian media: “It’s not that I’m brave, but there was something about their attitude that really angered me. I have to work for my money and they think they can just get it for free. Without thinking I just grabbed the bottle and chased after them.”

Chocolate is the most popular candy dessert in the world and makes up a multi-billion dollar industry.

The origin of the word “chocolate” comes out of the Aztec and means “bitter water”.

Chocolate has a reputation for melting in your mouth because cacao butter melts at a temperature just below the human body temperature.

Although the discovery of chocolate was made in South America, most cocoa these days comes from West Africa.

Chocolate has also played a role in military history: Napoleon carried some with him on campaign, as did the American soldiers in World War Two.

10 meglepő tény az ikrekről https://www.5percangol.hu/kozepfok/10-meglep-teny-az-ikrekrl/ Wed, 15 Oct 2014 08:29:41 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/10-meglep-teny-az-ikrekrl/ 10 Surprising Facts About Twins

Twins become more common every year, likely as a result of fertilization treatments, but that doesn’t make the multiples any less fascinating.

Here are 10 surprising facts about the double bundles of joy.

Number 10. They can have different dads. If a woman has sexual encounters with multiple men while ovulating, it’s entirely possible for more than one of them to each fertilize a different egg.
“There’s only a handful of cases documented worldwide.” [NBC]

Number 9. Twins start to interact in the womb. In 2011 researchers in Italy discovered that at 14 weeks the two start reaching for one another and at 18 weeks they began to touch to touch the other more than themselves.

Number 8. Cândido Godói is the twin capital of the world.

“Among the 80 or so families living within a one and a half square mile area, there are 44 pairs of twins.” [National Geographic]

So many twins have been born there that researchers descended upon the small Brazilian town to figure out why. It turns out, many residents have a genetic disposition towards it.

Number 7. They often develop their own language. An estimated 40 percent of twins create a language that only they and their sibling know. The technical name for the phenomenon is cryptophasia.

Number 6. Dairy products have twin-producing powers. Studies have shown that in the US women who eat dairy are five times more likely to give birth to twins than those who don’t. Researchers think it’s because of the growth hormone that’s often injected into cows.

Number 5. One woman gave birth to 16 sets of twins. No, that is definitely not anywhere near the realm of normal. In fact, it’s a Guinness record and was set before 1770.

Number 4. Many celebrities have one. Scarlett Johansson, Ashton Kutcher, and Giselle Bundchen all have a fraternal twin.

Number 3. Even identical twins don’t have identical fingerprints. As they are exposed to different parts of the womb at different times, they develop unique patterns.

Number 2. Conjoined twins occur once in every 200 thousand live births. 70 percent of them are girls, but all are identical. Of the top 5 most common areas of joining, first is the area of the heart, liver, or intestine, while in 5th place is the brain.

Number 1. Dogs know who’s who. Canines are able to tell the difference between identical twins, even if everything about them is the same, right down to what they eat. Although for one study, specially trained police dogs were used.

10 fura brit hagyomány, amelyek a mai napig léteznek https://www.5percangol.hu/kozepfok/10-fura-brit-hagyomany-amik-a-mai-napig-leteznek/ Mon, 13 Oct 2014 10:26:39 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/10-fura-brit-hagyomany-amik-a-mai-napig-leteznek/ 10 Strangely Cool British Traditions Still Practiced Today

In modern times many customs have been cast aside, existing only in stories about how things used to be. Not all of them, though.

Here are 10 strangely cool UK traditions practiced to this day.

Number 10. Wearing wigs in court. The practice of judges and lawyers donning horsehair coifs dates back to the 17th century. Not all courts and cases require them, but there are those who choose to wear them anyway.

Number 9. Permission to marry. This really only applies to those who are descendants of King George the Second. For those who are, it means that a representative of the ruling monarchy must be present at the wedding to extend written consent.

Number 8. Custodian helmets. As far as traditions go, this one almost didn’t make it. Even though they fell out of favor for regular use over 30 years ago, some police forces are putting them back into regular rotation.

Number 7. The Guards at Buckingham Palace. Where else would you find soldiers wearing outfits as good as these? The infantry soldiers seen guarding the palace not only serve a ceremonial role, but are also elite soldiers.

Number 6. Summer birthdays for the ruler. Royal celebrations often involve large parades. To boost the chances of sunny skies, birthday celebrations for the monarch are scheduled in the summer months, regardless of when they were born. Queen Elizabeth II is among those who have added an additional date.

Number 5. Congratulatory messages from the monarch. Since 1917, England’s Sovereign has sent special cards and greetings to people celebrating milestones like significant birthdays and anniversaries.

Number 4. The Queen of England doesn’t have a passport. As they’re all issued in her name, that she carry one is considered unnecessary.

Number 3. The Duke of Wellington pays rent. Well, sort of. It’s part of a ceremony commemorating the title-holder of long ago returning victorious from Waterloo and taking up residence in a country-owned home. While the Duke hands a flag to the Queen as rent, there’s no money changing hands.

Number 2. Pearly Kings and Queens. Although the charitable organization has changed names several times, they’ve been aiding the poor for around 1 thousand years. The group’s members wear black ensembles embellished with white buttons.

Number 1. The State Opening. Each year when the Parliament begins its season the Queen give a government-written speech outlining the year’s agenda
