(A) FEW / (A) LITTLE

Míg a much és a many azt jelentik, hogy sok, addig a little/few páros azt jelenti, hogy kevés. A little és few szavakat használhatod kijelentő, kérdő és tagadó mondatban is. A különbség a kettő között pont ugyanaz lesz, mint a much és a many között, azaz az egyik a megszámlálható, a másik pedig a nem megszámlálható főnevekre fog vonatkozni. A little vonatkozik a nem megszámlálhatókra, a fewpedig a megszámlálhatókra.

(A) FEW: többes számban lévő megszámlálható főnevekkel használjuk

I have a few eggs. I have enough eggs to bake a cake.

I have few eggs. I don’t have enough eggs to bake a cake.

not too many, but ENOUGH
not many and NOT ENOUGH

(A) LITTLE: nem megszámlálható főnevekkel használjuk
(Ugye nem felejtetted el, hogy a nem megszámlálható főneveknek nincs többes számú alakja?)

I have a little time to watch the news.

I’m at the Christmas Market here in Budapest and of course Christmas is the time when you want to eat as many delicious things as humanly possible, so that’s what I’m here to do.

I want to find all of the special Hungarian Christmas treats and show them to you and taste them all.

This is Christmas in Hungary:

  1. This is a rolled pastry called bejgli and I asked my friend who’s from Budapest the first thing that came to mind when she thought of Hungarian Christmas and she said bejgli and it looks delicious. You can buy a whole log or I just got a little slice. It’s very, very traditional and it’s special to eat at Christmastime and it’s traditionally made with poppy seed or walnut, so I opted for the walnut. It does taste very Christmassy. The walnut puree is really soft and then you’ve got, like, hard walnuts inside for the crunch. It tastes really fresh as well. Mmm yeah, that’s good.
  2. This is basically gingerbread. It’s called mézeskalács, I think, and it’s…it’s basically gingerbread but it’s really, really lightweight. It almost feels like nothing in your hands and Marc went for the guitar and I kept it classic with a Santa. And what makes these special is that they put a lot of detail into how they decorate them. So the icing is usually really, really intricate so I feel almost bad eating it but I’m going to anyway. It definitely tastes different to gingerbread that I’m used to. It has the same ginger taste but the texture’s totally different: airier, a lot less chewiness.
  3. A tradition in Hungary is Christmas candy. These look like little crackers and they actually decorate the trees with these in addition to eating them. So, I got three kinds: honey, orange, and cherry. And it really, to me, looks like a Christmas cracker except there’s candy inside. Here goes cherry. Oh, that’s really good! This is the orange one. Ah yeah. It’s really good too. Not as good as the cherry, though, in my opinion. Ooh this one has pretty orange paper. This is honey, which I thought sounded too good to pass up. That’s my favourite one. Oh my god, that’s good. I really like that. Edible Christmas decorations? Yeah. It’s a good idea.

Élet a Dunán – szókincsfejlesztő feladattal https://www.5percangol.hu/szokincsfejleszto_feladatok/elet-a-dunan-szokincsfejleszto-feladattal/ Sat, 28 Nov 2020 09:14:47 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/?p=21629

The River Danube influences the lives of a dozen countries together with their millions of residents every single day. Countless photos and videos have tried to present its grandeur and beauty, from which the newest is a series with the objective of revealing the river’s secrets in a special way. The brand new series of the TV channel Spektrum puts the spotlight on ordinary people with not so ordinary lives: fishermen, sailors, fierce environmental activists, and silent monks living along the banks or on the river itself. Nick Thorp’s series Duna – Árral szemben (The Danube – Upstream) brings this world closer to the viewers, writes Blikk.

The author arrived in Hungary in 1983, and 3 years later, he started working – and is still working – as the Central Europe correspondent for the BBC, living in Budapest. Since then, he has travelled along this incredibly long river several times to study it, leading to the birth of his personal, intimate, and often funny book called The Danube – A Journey Upriver from the Black Sea to the Black Forest. The book, published 6 years ago, gave the basis to the series having debuted on the 8th of November. It is an exciting audiovisual diary of a journey perfectly presenting the river itself and the life formed around it.

“We travelled by boat, ship, car, bike, kayak, bus, train, aircraft, and SUP, but we also walked a lot. Not a lot of people have the opportunity to travel along the whole of a river; I had the chance twice to do so in the case of the Danube from the Black Sea to the Black Forest – once to write my book and now to produce the series. A lot of people were open to let us into their lives even with the camera rolling,” said Nick Thorpe.

The 8-episode-long series guides the viewer through the whole length of the Danube, just as in the book, against the current. The shooting itself lasted almost an entire year, during which the crew visited 8 countries which gave the possibility to show, apart from the cultural diversity of the Danube, the dramatic events that happened in the history of Hungary and Europe on the banks of the river, from Marcus Aurelius to the Second World War. The main character of Nick Thorp’s work is the Danube itself, which influences not only the life of Hungary but also that of many European countries. This fact makes the series fit for not only national but also international recognition, just as in the case of other previous Spektrum TV productions.

The Hungarian audience can enjoy the episodes in the narration of Pál Mácsai, Kossuth and Jászai Mari award-winning actor and producer. If we got you interested in this beautiful series, its nature, landscape, and life, you can see the new episodes every Sunday at 3 pm and 9 pm on Spektrum TV. The next, 4th episode will air next Sunday, the 29th of November.

Napoleon Bonaparte artefacts stolen in Australia

Rare artefacts connected to Napoleon Bonaparte, including a lock of his hair, have been stolen from a museum in Australia, local police say. Police believe thieves broke into The Briars historic homestead, south of Melbourne, through a bathroom window. The collection was assembled by a family with ties to the French emperor.

"The offender/s have jemmied open cabinets inside and stolen numerous priceless antiques," the Victoria state police said in a statement. "The stolen items included a ring and flowers containing Napoleon’s hair, a ribbon inscribed by Napoleon in 1815 and a snuff box," it added. Local reports quoted museum officials as saying that descendants of Englishman Alexander Balcombe, who met Napoleon in exile on St Helena Island, put the collection together.

"Alexander Balcombe settled here [in Australia] in 1846 and sat on Napoleon’s knee as a little boy," museum co-ordinator Steve York told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "Really they’re priceless, because they can’t be replaced. We’re quite distraught. Irreplaceable," Mr York said of the objects taken.

Police are asking the public for any information regarding the theft. "We think this was a fairly targeted theft," Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Lamb told ABC, adding that it would be difficult to publicly dispose of the artefacts.
