CONJUNCTIONS – azaz a kötőszavak az angol nyelvben

Mi is az a kötőszó? A kötőszó nem más, mint egy olyan szó(cska), amely segítségével szavakat, mondatrészeket, tagmondatokat tudunk összekötni. A kötőszavakat három nagy csoportba tudjuk sorolni, ezek a következők:

– coordinating conjunctions (mellérendelő)

– correlative (kölcsönös)

– subordinating (alárendelő)

Ezeket fogjuk most szép sorban megnézni!

COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS

Mellérendelő kötőszavak segítségével akár két szót is össze tudunk kötni, de használhatjuk szócsoportok összekötésére is. A legfontosabb az, hogy a mellérendelő kötőszavakkal mindig hasonló elemeket kötünk össze (pl. alany+alany, állítmány+állítmány, mondat+mondat)!

A mellérendelő kötőszavak a következők:

FOR	mert/mivel mivel, hogy	ebben az esetben a “because” szóval megegyező a jelentése	I don’t like baking muffins for I eat them all and get fat quickly.	Nem szeretek muffint sütni, mert megeszem mindet és gyorsan elhízom 🙂
AND	és	két hasonló szót/gondolatot köt össze	I like orange and lemon muffins.	Szeretem a narancsos és a citromos muffint.
NOR	és … sem	jelentése az “or”-hoz hasonló, de ez két negatív választási lehetőségről van szó	I refuse to bake any more muffins, nor I’ll prepare any other kinds of cakes in the future.	Nem vagyok hajlandó több muffint sütni, és bármilyen másfajta sütit készíteni sem.
BUT	de	két ellentétes szót/gondolatot köt össze	I like poppy seed muffins, but I don’t like cheesecake.	Szeretem a mákos muffint, de nem szeretem a túrótortát.
OR	vagy	két válaszható szót/gondolatot köt össze	I’ll have poppy seed muffin or a slice of carrot cake.	Mákos muffint fogok enni, vagy egy szelet répatortát.
YET	de/azonban	jelentése ebben az esetben a “but”-hoz hasonló	I don’t like cakes usually, yet I’ll have a slice of cheesecake now.	Általában nem szeretem a sütit, de most enni fogok egy szelet túrótortát.
SO	ezért/így ezért hát ennélfogva	azt mutatja, hogy a második gondolat az első eredménye	We went to the store late and it was closed, so we decided to order some take-away for dinner.	Későn mentünk a boltba és már zárva volt, így hát/ezért úgy döntöttünk, hogy rendelünk valamit vacsorára.

TIPP: Van egy egyszerű és könnyű tipp arra, hogyan jegyezd meg a mellérendelő kötőszavakat: olvasd össze a táblázatban a kötőszavak első betűit fentről lefelé, és kijön egy anagramma: FANBOYS. Így könnyen tudod memorizálni őket!

Ebben a leckében olyan kötőszavakat fogunk megtanulni, amelyek két részből állnak. Szinte mindegyiknek van magyar megfelelője, így sokkal könnyebb megérteni és megtanulni őket.

CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS

A kölcsönös viszonyban álló kötőszavak mindig párban állnak – tehát két alkotóelemük van – és mindig hasonló típusú szavakat, mondatrészeket és mondatokat kötnek össze.

FONTOS TUDNIVALÓK:

1.
Minden -body szó után (anybody, somebody, nobody, everybody) az állítmány egyes szám 3. személyben áll, tehát pl. Present Simple-ben van az ige után egy -s végződés. Például:

Everybody needs somebody to love. – Mindenkinek szüksége van valakire, akit szerethet.
Somebody is knocking on the door. – Valaki kopog az ajtón.
There is nobody here. – Nincs itt senki.
Anybody can do this. – Bárki meg tudja ezt csinálni.

2.
Tag Question esetén (Ugye kérdés) ha a mondatban SOMETHING/NOTHING/EVERYTHING/ANYTHING van, akkor a vissza kérdezésben IT-et kell használni. Személyek esetén, tehát amikor SOMEBODY/NOBODY/EVERYBODY/ANYBODY van a f?mondatban, akkor a visszakérdezésben a THEY személyes névmást kell használni. Például:

Something happened to Mary, didn’t it? – Valami történt Mary-vel, ugye?
Somebody stole your wallet, didn’t they? – Valaki ellopta a tárcádat, ugye?
