Elton John admits he owns 15,000 pairs of sunglasses

SIR Elton John is known for his weird and wonderful eyewear almost as much as he is for his huge hits.

But now he’s revealed that his glasses collection is so vast, even his mega mansion in Windsor isn’t big enough to store them all.

Elton performed a one-off gig with Brandi Carlile at the London Palladium on Wednesday evening and was quizzed on stage about his career, as well as his favourite specs.

When asked by Canadian actor Dan Levy how many he has, Elt replied: “I don’t really know. We keep them in storage as I don’t have that big a house but I would say, I guess at least between ten and 15 thousand.”

Laughing, Brandi added: “Now I don’t feel bad about my shoes.”

Despite shifting 300million records worldwide and scoring nine UK No1 albums, Elton said he wants to be remembered for one thing — being a good dad.

The superstar, who has sons Zachary and Elijah with producer David Furnish, said: “My boys are my greatest gift. They teach me something every day and all I want on my tombstone is nothing to do with Crocodile f***ing Rock, I just want it to say, ‘He was a great dad’.”

At the show, Elton belted out some of his biggest hits as well as some new tracks off his upcoming album with Brandi, Who Believes In Angels?

But don’t expect any more concerts soon.

Sitting down at the piano, Elton explained: “I said after Glastonbury I wouldn’t tour, and I’m not touring.”
