Thököly Street and the mysterious woman

If you walk with open eyes in Thököly Street and admire the buildings, you can see a figure of a woman looking into the distance from the balcony. According to locals, during World War I, a young couple lived in the building who were separated by the war. The man went to the front to fight while his wife waited for him in their home, every day. She was looking out of the balcony leaning on her elbows waiting for her husband to arrive.

However, at that time, the Spanish flu infected millions of people in Hungary and the young woman was no exception to the deadly epidemic. She became seriously ill; still, despite her illness, she was on the balcony every day hoping to see her beloved one. According to the legend, it is here that she died.

It is the irony of fate that the husband arrived from the front right on the next day, but he only found his dead wife on the balcony. He set up a statue to honour his lady for her loyalty and walled up the door of the balcony so that nobody could even step into that place.

The Chain Bridge and its lions

Many legends are circulating about the lions sitting on both sides of the Chain Bridge. The most well-known legend holds that the lions have no tongue due to which the sculptor, János Marschalkó, was humiliated and being much ashamed, he eventually committed suicide by jumping into the Duna.

In fact, this is not true at all, since the lions have their tongues, but they were deliberately made invisible to the passers-by from the level of the pavement. The sculptor, also known for working on the sculptures of the Vigadó and the MTA, confirmed this news. For those who made fun of him, he responded ironically: “Would that your wife had such a tongue as my lions!”

A powerful and moving video of a young boy telling his mother about the horrifying reality of bullying has gone viral, with celebrities around the world offering their support.

In heart-breaking footage posted on Facebook, Keaton Jones – who is being talked about all over Twitter – asks his mum why bullies enjoy targeting innocent people.

Through his tears, he tells her what he has to endure, revealing that bullies cruelly pour milk down him and put ham down his clothes.

Keaton says his bullies call him “ugly” and make fun of his nose.

In the emotional video, Keaton asks: “Just out of curiosity, why do they bully? What’s the point of it? Why do they enjoy taking innocent people and finding a way to be mean to them? It’s not OK.”

When his mum asks what they say to him, the young boy responds: “They make fun of my nose. They call me ugly. They say I have no friends.”

She is then heard probing what they do to him at lunch, to which Keaton says: “Pour milk down me and put ham down my clothes. Throw bread at me.”

Keaton tells his mum that the bullies “do it to other people too,” and through his tears he tells her he doesn’t know why, and repeats “it’s not OK”.

“People that are different don’t need to be criticised about it. It’s not their fault,” Keaton adds.

“If you are made fun of, just don’t let it bother you.

“Stay strong I guess. It’s hard. But it’ll probably get better one day.”

Posting the moving video on Facebook, his mum Kimberly Jones wrote: “For the record, Keaton asked to do this AFTER he had he me pick him up again because he was afraid to go to lunch.

“My kids are by no stretch perfect, and at home, he’s as all boy as they come, but by all accounts he’s good at school.

“Talk to your kids. I’ve even had friends of mine tell me their kids were only nice to him to get him to mess with people.

“We all know how it feels to want to belong, but only a select few know how it really feels not to belong anywhere.”

The video has had more than 430,000 shares, gaining sympathy all over the world- including from celebrities.

Patrick J Adams, Meghan Markle ‘s co-star on Suits, tweeted: “We hear you KeatonJones. I was bullied constantly growing up. And could never have put into words what you have. It does get better. And it gets better because of who you are and what you know and how you share it with all of us. Thank you for your courage.”

US broadcaster Ryan Seacrest added: “Keaton Jones, your curiosity and kindness will overcome this moment and bring you many better days to come.”
