A heart‑warming story spread across social media after a young golden doodle was abandoned at an airport ticket counter and later found a permanent home with one of the people who helped rescue him. The dog, estimated to be about two years old, was left tied to a baggage‑sizer frame at the JetBlue counter in Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

According to airport police, the owner had planned to travel with the dog by claiming it was a service animal. However, airline staff informed her that she needed to complete the required online documentation before boarding. When she failed to provide the paperwork, she was denied a boarding pass.

Instead of returning home with the dog, the owner walked away and continued toward the departure gate, leaving the animal behind. Security footage and photos shared by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department quickly went viral, prompting thousands of people from around the world to apply to adopt the abandoned dog. Many expressed shock at the situation but were moved by the dog’s calm and friendly behavior despite the stressful circumstances.

Animal protection officers took the dog into their care, ensuring he received medical attention, food, and a safe environment. During this process, one of the rescuers formed a strong bond with him. After reviewing the overwhelming number of adoption requests, the team decided that the rescuer who had spent the most time with the dog would provide the best long‑term home.

The dog has now settled into his new life, surrounded by affection and stability. The story highlights both the challenges of irresponsible pet ownership and the compassion of people willing to step in and help an animal in need.

Tűz martaléka lett a műemlék viktoriánus épület is Glasgow belvárosában https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/tuz-martaleka-lett-a-muemlek-viktorianus-epulet-is-glasgow-belvarosaban/ Mon, 09 Mar 2026 20:39:44 +0000 https://www.5percangol.hu/?p=150494 Március 8. vasárnap délutánja békésen indult Glasgowban, azonban a városközpont percek alatt káoszba fordult, amikor a Union Streeten található egyik vape (elektromos cigaretta) boltban hatalmas tűz ütött ki egy robbanást követően. A lángok olyan gyorsan terjedtek, hogy a környék ikonikus, viktoriánus kori épületei pillanatok alatt veszélybe kerültek. A tűz különösen a Union Corner nevű, 19. századi műemléki házat érintette, amelynek kupolája végül a hőség és a szerkezeti károk miatt összeomlott.

A következő videóban a járókelők beszélnek érzéseikről a tűzesettel kapcsolatban. Nézd meg a videót és válaszolj az értést ellenőrző kvíz kérdésekre is.

It’s frightening.

It’s horrible. Horrible.

That was just an iconic building.

You know, because coming down Renfield Street on the bus, you used to see the big Irn Bru sign on the dome.

So it’s always been there and it’s going to be really strange, really strange.

We were actually staying at the hotel next door.

Everything is in there.

Passport, travel tickets, cash, wallet, obviously clothes.

It’s insane to see a building that I’ve kind of walked past so many times is now just kind of gone.

I was quite taken aback by it.

I’ve not seen anything like that before in Glasgow.

So it’s, I think it’s new for everyone here.

Myself and my wife were staying overnight in the Grand Central for my wife’s birthday.

We actually just got there and then unpacked, went out for a short walk and then couldn’t get back into the hotel.

As the night progressed, it just got bigger and bigger.

I saw a video of when the dome collapsed on the top.

And that was, that wasn’t nice to see.

Yeah, it was devastating, really.

But unfortunately, all our belongings are still in the hotel and we’ve no idea of when we’re actually going to be getting them back again.

They gave us an extra room in the hotel next door.

The Radisson Blu.

We’re still there.

We lost, we missed the flight today, so we stay another night.

I’ve been seeing all like the kind of businesses that just like don’t have a place to go now.

There’s been kind of GoFundMe’s set up.

So yeah, it’s a real shame.

There should be some sort of restoration budget like they’ve done it for the art school, didn’t they?

So hopefully they can do it for this.

A 13-year-old Australian boy, Austin Applebee, has been called a hero after saving his mother, brother, and sister from a dangerous situation at sea. The family was enjoying a day on the water near Dunsborough when strong currents suddenly pulled them away from the shore. Their kayak filled with water, they lost their paddles, and soon they were drifting further and further out to sea.

As the waves grew stronger, the situation became extremely serious. Austin’s mother realised that they needed help quickly, so she asked her son to try to swim back to the beach and call for rescue. Although he was scared, Austin understood that he was their only hope. He first tried to paddle, but the kayak sank, so he started swimming on his own.

Austin swam about four kilometres through rough water. The journey took several hours, and at one point he even had to remove his life jacket because it slowed him down. When he finally reached the shore, he immediately alerted people nearby, who contacted emergency services.

Rescue teams, including a helicopter, searched the area and eventually found Austin’s mother and siblings. They had been holding onto their paddle boards for more than eight hours while waiting for help. Thanks to Austin’s bravery and determination, all three were safely brought back to land.

Decide if the statements are true or false!

1. The speaker interviewed Jamal in high school ten years ago.
2. Wanda Dench mistakenly texted Jamal thinking he was her grandson.
3. Jamal has never met Wanda’s family in the past ten years.
4. Wanda has faced significant challenges in her life, including losing her husband.
5. The media has lost interest in Wanda and Jamal’s story over the years.
6. This year, Jamal will host Thanksgiving dinner for the first time.
7. Wanda and Jamal have only met during Thanksgiving celebrations.

Okay, you might remember this story. 10 years ago, we brought you the story of Wanda and Jamal, the grandma who texted the wrong kid for Thanksgiving. And he showed up anyway. They’re still going strong and meeting again this year. Didn’t they make a movie about this even?

I feel there was there’s so much coverage and media on this and so many updates. I’m not sure exactly where they’re at, but yeah. So it’s a big story. It’s turned into a big thing. And they’re still doing it. 12 News journalist William Pitts talked with both of them today. Jamal, I can’t believe that actually 10 years ago, I was in your high school interviewing you in a classroom. That’s the weird part for me. That’s the weird part for me.

Yes. That’s crazy. I can’t believe 10 years ago I graduated.

10 years since that first mistaken Thanksgiving, when Wanda Dench texted Jamal Hinton by mistake. She thought it was her grandson’s number. He answered, “No, but can I get a plate?” Wanda said, “Of course, that’s what grandmas do.” And a tradition was born. Now, 10 years later, they’re still meeting for dinner, and people still love them.

You know, that dumbfounds me. You know, I’ve said many a time. You know, the first year, I kind of get it. You know, you know, for regular people like us. You get 15 minutes of fame in the news. For the media to keep coming every year to want to interview us and find out what we’re up to and doing, and we’re doing the same thing all the time. Um, it still it I I it still surprises me.

It’s not just Thanksgiving either. They’ve been through life together. Jamal’s graduated, gotten engaged, gone into business. Wanda’s moved twice, lost her husband to COVID, survived breast cancer, and every year we catch up with them. I I never thought I would be here in um, in this chair celebrating our 10th year.

Should I still post about this? Should I Does anyone even care? I was told this one time before from a mentor of mine, like, hey, if it if it only makes one person happy, that it was worth it.

This year, it’s Jamal’s turn to host. Yes, I’m going to meet his family for the first time. For the first time. You 10 years you’ve never? Nope. Never met his family. That’s right. In 10 years, Wanda’s never met Jamal’s family. And in 10 years, Jamal has also never cooked.

But you got out of cooking. I mean, you did. Yeah, 10 years straight. Green Giant has is catering our Thanksgiving, so that’s how come he got out of it. Me and Wanda been talking about it next year.

Oh, yeah. Oh, I’m not letting him get out of next year. He’s cooking. You can’t mess up the turkey. So I’m going to take this year and probably make a turkey either every month or every other month so I can perfect my craft before we get to Thanksgiving. So, wish me luck for next year.

William Pitts, 12 News.

Oh, I love it. So this is me and if you get a random text, you should answer it. I’ve What do you get a lot of those? You probably shouldn’t. I don’t. I’m glad he did though. It’s been a great story. And Jamal, I got to tell you, you take a one of those roasting bags and put the bird in there and and go by the pounds of how long you it’s it’s mistake-free. Yeah, it’s perfect every time. It comes out all right. Try a roasting bag. It’ll change your life. All right.

Correct answers:
1. True – The speaker mentions interviewing Jamal in high school ten years ago.
2. True – The transcript states that Wanda texted Jamal by mistake, thinking he was her grandson.
3. False – The speaker indicates that Jamal is meeting Wanda’s family for the first time this year.
4. True – The transcript mentions Wanda losing her husband and surviving breast cancer.
5. False – The speaker notes that the media continues to show interest in their story every year.
6. True – The speaker states that this year, it is Jamal’s turn to host Thanksgiving dinner.
7. False – The transcript indicates that they have been through life together, not just during Thanksgiving.

The body of a woman who disappeared from her home in Belgium was eventually found thanks to Google Maps. Paulette Landrieux, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, vanished from her home while her husband was doing housework in November 2020.

Marcel Taret was the sole carer for the 83-year-old when he left her eating lunch by the television to peg some laundry on his washing line. It turned out that would be the last time he saw her alive. On returning indoors, Paulette was nowhere to be seen, sending Marcel into a panic.

After searching from room to room, he checked outside, knocking on neighbors’ doors in case they had seen her. Anxiously he called the police and less than an hour later was relieved to see a search and rescue helicopter hovering over his home in Andenne.

Over the next hours and days Paulette did not appear. Weeks turned into months until it had been two years since she was last seen. But an incredible coincidence helped solve the mystery of Paulette’s sudden disappearance.

The day that she vanished coincided with the day that Google’s street view camera car visited the town. One of Marcel’s neighbors made the connection and examined photos of the street where the couple lived.

In the pictures, Paulette can be seen walking across the street away from her home. Investigators traced the route that Paulette appeared to be taking and finally discovered her fate. Across the street was a steep hill that led down to a thick bramble bush. Inside the bramble bush, they found Paulette’s body.

While the search was going on, Paulette was likely trapped down there, unaware of what was going on or how to communicate. Paulette unfortunately died where she lay, waiting to be found over two years after her disappearance.

Mi volt Lady Diana kedvenc reggelije? https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/mi-volt-lady-diana-kedvenc-reggelije/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 21:11:42 +0000 https://www.5percangol.hu/?p=147001

When I became Princess Diana’s chef, she got her life back on track. She was patron of 119 different charities. She said, “Darren, you take care of all the fats.” “And I’ll take care of the carbs at the gym.” Now, this meant that she was now eating healthy. And her go-to breakfast was something called overnight oats.

Now, today, overnight oats are really popular. Everybody’s eating them. But they date back to 2012. That’s when you couldn’t even go on social media without seeing a recipe for overnight oats. But Princess Diana was eating overnight oats almost 20 years earlier in 1993. Where did she get the recipe from? Did she invent them? No. She actually went to a Swiss health clinic. And there she had these overnight oats and they were actually called Bircher muesli. And they were invented by a Swiss nutritionist and she thought they were really, really good. And all the ingredients were super healthy. She stole the recipe, came back and said, “Darren, I want these for breakfast every day.”

Oats are just rich in fiber. And perfect for breakfast every morning. But when you actually have them cold with a little liquid over them and they’re steeped overnight. And then you add all these ingredients there too, it just takes them to the next level. And all these individual nutrients going into the breakfast dish make it amazing. And that means adding a liquid to them. And I use rolled oats in there. You can use the pinhead. Don’t use the quick oats or anything like that. The rolled oats, in my opinion, they’re the best.

So I’m adding freshly squeezed orange juice into my oats. The oats, covered with plastic then and put them in the refrigerator. And leave them overnight. Overnight oats. In the morning, the oats will have swelled up. Absorbed most of the liquid. Now, into there, I’m going to add some Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is an incredible protein. And just what you need really to start the day. You know, you add the oats and you soak them in the whiskey. And then you add the cream in there, the whipped cream. And lots of sugar. Well, this is a lot healthier and oh, so much tastier too.

So just lightly fold in the Greek yogurt. And once that’s folded in, I’m going to put some honey in there too. I like to use raw honey. And with the raw honey, I say just do that to taste. If you like it really, really sweet, then obviously put a little bit more in. But not too much. Then I’m going to put some lemon juice in there too. Now, there are many different things that you can add into the dish now. Uh, lots of different fruits, you know, all the berries and the strawberries and the chia seeds are really popular now too. But this is the classic traditional dish that Princess Diana had for breakfast every morning.

So in there, we take some apple. And I like the honey crisp apples. They’re sweet. And leave the skin on as well. And then you’re just going to grate this into those oats. Stir the apples into the mixture. And we’ve got texture, we’ve got fiber. We’ve got protein. We’ve just got everything in there. Then I’m going to take a few blueberries. And I’ve got these really, really big jumbo blueberries because they just have so much flavor to them. And I’m going to drop those in. And a few walnuts too. Walnuts, super food, super healthy. And then just fold those in as well.

Then I’m going to put it into the glass. Now, I have to admit that when I was making this at Kensington Palace for Princess Diana, it was so good. I actually used to double the recipe so that the chef got it for breakfast too. And some blueberries. Princess Diana’s overnight oats. How easy are they to make? And super healthy too. You can soak the oats overnight and all you do is throw the fruit in there and the nuts in the morning. And there you go. And it’s so much cheaper than buying them at the store ready-made.

If you like the recipe, give me a thumbs up. Put a comment below. Tell me how you make them. Tell me what you put in your overnight oats. If you’ve not subscribed, subscribe and tell your friends. We’re almost at 400,000 subscribers. I’ll see you again soon. So healthy. They smell good too. A sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

Every time you take a breath, you inhale around 50 potentially harmful bacteria every second. Luckily, your immune system works hard to destroy them before they can make you sick. Your body is amazing at protecting itself!

  1. The Moon isn’t perfectly round
top 10

Even though the Moon looks round from Earth, it’s actually shaped more like a lemon. Its poles are slightly flat, and it has bulges around the middle. Scientists believe this shape formed during its early interaction with Earth.

  1. The Milky Way smells like fruit and alcohol
top 10

In 2009, scientists found a chemical called ethyl formate in the center of our galaxy. This chemical gives raspberries their taste and smells like rum. So yes — space might smell sweet and boozy!

  1. A horse is stronger than you think
top 10

You may have heard of “horsepower,” but did you know a horse can produce up to 24 horsepower? That’s much more than the one horsepower people usually think of. The term was created by engineer James Watt to measure engine power.

  1. The universe’s color is ‘Cosmic Latte’
top 10

When scientists averaged the light from all galaxies, they found the universe’s color is a soft beige — like milky coffee. They named it “Cosmic Latte.” From Earth, though, space still looks mostly black.

Mit álmodtál? A leggyakoribb álmok jelentése https://www.5percangol.hu/mindenfele/mit-almodtal-leggyakoribb-almok-jelentese/ Thu, 25 Sep 2025 07:19:47 +0000 https://www.5percangol.hu/?p=146700 Top 10 most common dreams and what they mean

Dreams have always been a source of mystery and interest. They have been interpreted in many ways throughout history, from divine messages to reflections of our subconscious. Let’s discover the top 10 most common dreams and their potential meaning!

Being chased

The experience of being chased in a dream is a common one. This dream could potentially represent a feeling of being relentlessly pursued or under pressure in one’s daily existence. This pressure could be the result of a variety of circumstances. Perhaps the individual is dealing with a particularly challenging situation that is causing them stress, or they might be shouldering a significant responsibility that is overwhelming. In such cases, the subconscious mind, in an attempt to process and cope with these real-life challenges, might project them into the realms of dreams. Here, these pressures and challenges take on the form of a chase. This vivid and sometimes unsettling experience could therefore be a reflection of the stress and pressure that the individual is experiencing in their waking life.

Falling

Dreams in which one experiences the sensation of falling are quite common and often indicate feelings of insecurity, vulnerability, or a perceived loss of control in one’s waking life. These dreams may serve as a response to situations in which the dreamer feels overwhelmed or lacks a solid footing in their personal or professional life. Such dreams can be viewed as an expression of the subconscious mind grappling with anxieties, fears, or uncertainties that are present in the dreamer’s day-to-day life.

Flying

Experiencing the sensation of flight in a dream might be perceived as a symbolic representation of a deep-seated desire for freedom. This desire could originate from an urge to liberate oneself from the daily pressures and constraints that we often find ourselves subjected to in our regular routines. The act of flying through the skies in the dream might serve as a metaphor for the aspiration to elevate ourselves above the mundane and the ordinary. Such a dream might also indicate a wish to escape from the societal expectations or responsibilities that constantly loom over us, creating a feeling of being tied down or restricted. This could be a reflection of the dreamer’s longing to break free from these expectations and navigate their own path in life.

Being unprepared for a test

This dream could potentially be an indication of one’s subconscious expressing a fear of failure or an intense pressure to perform well in one’s pursuits. This dream is often common before an important commitment such as a presentation, job interview, promotion or exam. It might be worth exploring where these feelings are coming from, whether they stem from personal expectations or external pressures, so as to better understand and navigate one’s emotional landscape. Those suffering from impostor syndrome may often have dreams about being unprepared when they need to prove their competence, such as before a presentation or negotiation.

Teeth falling out

This dream can have various interpretations. It might symbolize anxiety about one’s physical appearance or how others perceive them. It could indicate a fear of judgment or a longing for acceptance, mirroring insecurities about not fulfilling societal or personal beauty standards. Additionally, dreams about teeth falling out could signify a sense of loss. Physical factors like jaw tension or clenching during sleep may influence these dreams. Occasionally, such dreams might represent feelings of jealousy or concerns regarding someone attempting to take what belongs to you.

Spiders

Dreams about spiders and other dangerous animals can be interpreted as a sign of manipulation, fear, and entanglement. If you’re dreaming about these creatures, it might symbolise a situation in your life where you feel threatened, entangled, or manipulated. This could also point to a powerful, dominating figure in your life or a situation that is causing you fear or anxiety. However, just as spiders are known for their patience and craft in weaving their webs, dreaming about such animals might also symbolise a situation that requires patience, resilience, and careful handling.

Meeting a celebrity

This dream may indicate a strong desire for recognition and validation from others. It suggests that the person is likely seeking approval or affirmation from those around them. This behaviour may stem from a need to boost their self-esteem or to fit into their social group. Various factors, like past experiences of feeling invalidated or overlooked, could contribute to this need. As a result, the individual may continuously seek attention and affirmation from their peers to feel valued and accepted.

Being naked in public

Dreams in which we feel exposed or vulnerable may reflect deeper, complex emotions. These feelings of vulnerability or embarrassment in our dreams could represent subconscious emotions, shedding light on aspects of our emotional state we might not recognize while awake. Such dreams could stem from recent experiences that have emotionally impacted us, or they may reflect our fears and anxieties about future events. The subconscious mind uses dreams to express these hidden feelings, and analysing these dreams can offer significant insights into our emotional well-being.

Finding an unused room

In the realm of dreams, coming across an unused room could represent an intriguing metaphor, symbolising the unearthing of untapped potential or hidden aspects of one’s personality that remain unexplored. This could mean that there are skills, talents, or abilities that you haven’t recognised or utilised yet. It could also suggest that there are aspects of your character or personality that you have not yet discovered or fully acknowledged.

Being late

Dreams in which one finds themselves being late are commonly understood to be closely related to anxieties or concerns about missing out on a vital opportunity, or not being able to meet specific expectations that have been set in one’s waking life. This could be a job interview, an important meeting, an exam, or a personal commitment, for instance. These dreams often serve as a reflection of the pressures we might be experiencing in our daily lives, emphasising the need for careful time management and efficient organisation.

The majority right-handed of the frustration that left-handed people face while using devices designed for right-handed people. The day was created in 1992 by the Left-Handers Club in United Kingdom to celebrate left-handers.

Left-handedness was viewed negatively by previous generations, back to the Middle Ages, when lefties were thought to be possessed by the devil. In early 1900s, Americans believes that left-handers were more liable to mental disorders. About 10% of the world’s population is left-handed. Ambidexterity is rare and only occurs in about 1% of the population. Ambidexterity is the ability to use both the right and left hand equally. It indicates that a person has no marked preference for the use of the right or left hand.

According to a Journal of Economic Perspective study, left-handed people are more likely to work in manually intensive fields. And most notably, lefties are also called, Southpaws. Comparing to women, men are more likely to be left-handed. Approximately 11% of men and 9% of women are lefties. Scientists have long known that handedness is shaped by genes. But in 2019, they identified the differences in parts of the DNA.

The elder left-hander people can handle some of the tasks just as well easily compare to right-hander people. A recent study shows, brain involved in handedness have mood swings, restlessness, and neuroticism, a personality type marked by anxiety and fear that sometimes can veer into mental disorder. The highest left-handedness occurs in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Western Europe about 10%. The lowest rates, 4-6%, are in Asia, Africa, and South America. Left-handed people are having several physical and mental disorders and health problems like, autism spectrum disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders. Twins are mostly left-handed, that the genetic factors explain 25% are left-handers, while environmental factors explain the remaining 75%.

Left-handed people have a big advantage in competitive sports like cricket, tennis, swimming. Lefties are highly smart and some of the most popular inventors were left-handed like Isaac Newton and Benjamin Franklin. Five out of the last eight US presidents are left-handers like, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Most people are actually normal and that left-handedness is not pathology. They are more creative and intelligent.

Miért büntetik meg azt, aki angol zászlót lenget? https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/miert-buntetik-meg-azt-aki-angol-zaszlot-lenget/ Sat, 02 Aug 2025 14:19:19 +0000 https://www.5percangol.hu/?p=145207 Brits warned they could be fined £2,500 for flying flags including Union Jack

The Government has relaxed restrictions on flying flags, including not only the Union Jack, but also the national flags of England, Wales, Ireland and indeed any other country. Even county flags, such as Yorkshire’s, are being encouraged to fly more frequently as part of the Government’s initiative.

The guidelines for rooftop flag displays are fairly flexible. The government allows certain flags to be flown from rooftops of any size, provided they meet specific criteria. It stipulates all flags must be kept in a safe condition.

Furthermore, it must have the permission of the owner of the site where it’s displayed. It must not obscure, or hinder the interpretation of official road, rail, waterway or aircraft signs, or otherwise make hazardous the use of these types of transport. It should be removed carefully where so required by the planning authority.

Where flags can be flown without needing permission

Any national flag, civil ensign or civil air ensign from any country.

The flag of the Commonwealth, the United Nations or any other international organisation of which the UK is a member.

A flag representing any island, county, district, borough, burgh, parish, city, town or village within the UK.

The flag of the Black Country, East Anglia, Wessex, any part of Lincolnshire, any Riding of Yorkshire or any historic county within the United Kingdom.

The flag of Saint David (Wales).

The flag of Saint Patrick (Ireland).

The flag of any administrative area within any country outside the United Kingdom.

Any flag belonging to His Majesty’s forces.

The Armed Forces Day flag.

The Government further clarifies: “There are no restrictions on the size of flag.” However, if you plan to fly the flag from a pole extending from any part of a building other than the roof, the rules become more stringent. The flag may not exceed 2 square metres in size. No restrictions on the size of characters. Consent is required if the flagpole is in a controlled area such as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Failing to comply with these rules could result in fines of up to £2,500.
