The Thursday Murder Club

Based on Richard Osman’s international bestselling novel of the same name, The Thursday Murder Club follows four irrepressible retirees – Elizabeth (Helen Mirren) a former spy, Ron (Pierce Brosnan) a retired union leader, Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) a psychiatrist and Joyce (Celia Imrie) a nurse – who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun.

What begins as a quirky hobby quickly turns serious when a local developer is found dead under suspicious circumstances. Suddenly, the Thursday Murder Club finds itself in the middle of a very real and very dangerous case.

As the group digs deeper, secrets unravel – both from the present and the past. With their unique skills, sharp wit, and a surprising amount of bravery, the retirees outmanoeuvre the police, outwit suspects, and uncover a tangled web of motives. But the closer they get to the truth, the more they realize that someone doesn’t want this case solved – and that their own lives may be at risk.

Directed by Chris Columbus, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership.

A Királyok királya Charles Dickens Urunk élete című írásán alapszik, melyet a gyermekeinek írt az 1840-es évek második felében. Mivel Dickens tényleg csak a gyerekei számára írta, ezért nem akarta, hogy nyomtatásban is megjelenjen és a nagyközönség számára is elérhető legyen. Mikor a kézirat az író legkisebb fiához került, sokáig tiszteletben akarta tartani apja kérését, majd a végrendeletében utódait felmentette ez alól. Az Urunk élete így 1934-ben, Dickens halála után 64 évvel végre megjelenhetett.

A Királyok királya amerikai szinkronjában olyan színészeket hallhatunk, mint Oscar Isaac (Jézus), Kenneth Branagh (Charles Dickens), Mark Hamill (Heródes király), Pierce Brosnan (Pontius Pilátus), Forest Whitaker (Péter), Ben Kingsley (Kajafás főpap) és Uma Thurman (Catherine Dickens).

A Királyok királya 2025. április 17-én kerül a magyar mozikba, az ADS Service forgalmazásában.

Pierce Brosnan has declared he doesn’t get angry.

The GoldenEye actor, 69, who has used painting to channel his grief over the cancer deaths of his first wife Cassie and daughter Charlotte, said he also meditates to keep himself balanced.

‘I don’t get angry. I could get angry – but where would that anger go? There would be no point,’ he said in a new interview.

The actor was left devastated when his first wife Cassandra Harris, who he married in 1980, died 13 days after her 43rd birthday after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer – the same disease that killed her mum.

She had three children – Charlotte and Christopher, by Dermot Harris, the brother of actor Richard Harris – before she married Pierce, and then son Sean with the 007 actor.

Pierce adopted Charlotte and Christopher and was again left heartbroken when Charlotte also died from ovarian cancer in 2013 aged 42.

The Irish-born actor has been married to his second wife Keely Shaye Smith, 59, since 2001.

Chow down at a fast-food joint/veggie/vegan joint

Chow down simply means to eat. A fast-food joint is a great place to have a pizza or a burger, and relax. We can use the word ‘joint’ to talk about other places to eat, too. If you don’t eat meat, you can go to a veggie (vegetarian) joint and if you don’t eat any animal products, you can go to a vegan joint.

Paint the town red!

It’s the weekend. Time to party! Go out with your friends and paint the town red! Red symbolizes fun and excitement. Painting the town red means to have a fun-filled night out. You might even pull an all-nighter! (it means you stay out and up for the whole night)

Catch a flick/play/show

If your friends ask you to the cinema to catch a flick, they are asking you to see a movie with them. You could also catch a play at the theater or catch a show downtown.

Keep it low-key

Planning a relaxing, quiet night at home with a small group of friends? Tell them you are having a low-key night. This is the opposite of going out and painting the town red.

Grab some munchies and hit the road

Get away on a car-trip with your friends. Don’t forget to grab some popcorn, candy, or other munchies (food, especially snacks). Once you have your snacks, it’s time to get out there and hit the road (start your journey)!
