Here are 10 amazing facts about color.

Number 10. Men and women see it differently. Females are more adept at detecting slight differences between closely related hues, while males tend to see them as being the same. Women have also been shown to be better equipped linguistically when it comes to describing them.

Number 9. Blue is the world’s favorite color. Survey after survey has found that typically about half of those asked say they prefer it. That’s up to four times more love than the colors that end up in second place, like purple and green, get.

Number 8. The fear of colors has many names. Chromophobia and chromatophobia both describe the general disorder, while fears of many specific colors each have their own label. For example, cyanophobics are struck by feelings of terror when they see blue. Chlorophobics are afraid of greens.

Number 7. Rainbows are much more than they appear. While they look like bands of a handful of colors to us, they actually contain more hues than there are stars in the sky. It’s the perception abilities of our eyes that limit the rainbow’s range.

Number 6. Bulls aren’t really angered by red. What they’re responding to when the colored cape is flashed in front of them is the motion. Studies show they get just as worked up by the waving of flags in white and blue.

Number 5. Cats see in color. It’s unclear where the belief that cats have black and white vision came from, but regardless of its origin, the information is wrong. They observe the world in color, the hues just aren’t as bright as those observed by humans.

Number 4. Color blindness is an overstatement. For nearly every person who is afflicted by it, it’s only colors in a given range that are affected. Most common differentiation problems occur with red, blue and green. There are cases of a complete inability to see color, but they’re quite rare.

Number 3. Yellow is noticed first. In tests involving color and peripheral vision, the sunny color was noticed one and a quarter times faster than even attention grabbing red. That’s why school buses are yellow.

Number 2. Blue is best for gamers. A study in Japan showed that those who binged on video games in a blue environment had a more regular heartbeat than the people who played next to yellow or red walls.

Number 1. Supermarket meat is usually artificially bright red in color. About 70 percent of what people see on the shelves has been treated with carbon monoxide. It reacts with the blood and imparts a vibrant, fresh-from-the-butcher color.

What’s the most fascinating tidbit you know about color?

Megérkezett a várva várt DUNE trailer! https://www.5percangol.hu/news_of_the_world/dune-trailer-mar-lathato/ Sat, 12 Sep 2020 13:18:26 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/dune-trailer-mar-lathato/ The American-English-Canadian film ‘Dune,’ the monumental sci-fi movie by Denis Villeneuve, partly shot in Budapest last year, dropped its first official trailer featuring stars such as Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, and Oscar Isaac.

Officially, the shooting of the film ended in July 2019 in Hungary, but as with all large-scale movies, additional shooting is common, so the crew returned to shoot further scenes for the monumental sci-fi movie this August. Now the first official trailer of the film has dropped and shows some key moments from Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s iconic novel. The star-studded cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem.

‘Dune’ will be shown in two parts, the first part is said to debut in domestic cinemas on December 17th if the post-production goes well and the coronavirus epidemic also allows it.

‘Dune’ is a feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel about the son of a noble family trying to avenge his father’s death while saving a space planet.

The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve. His previous works include ‘Arrival,’ ‘Prisoners,’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ which was shot in Hungary a couple of years ago with actors Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. The film features Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, and Oscar Isaac, who have been spotted several times on Budapest’s streets during the shooting of the film.

Dealing with Angry Customers – How to Do it More Effectively https://www.5percangol.hu/kozossegi_anyagok_business_english/dealing-with-angry-customers-how-to-do-it-more-effectively/ Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:25:24 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/dealing-with-angry-customers-how-to-do-it-more-effectively/ Customers keep your company in business. Your job is to satisfy as many as you possibly can because keeping customers is just as important as getting them.

How do you deal with angry customers?

First: Deal with the person’s feelings.

Apologize that the situation has occurred.

–          Could you come over here and discuss this, please?

–          You must be upset.

–          I’m really sorry this happened.

Put yourself in your customer’s place.

Listen to the whole story without interrupting.

Maintain eye contact.

Nod your head.

Show the customer you’re really listening.

Until they’re calm they won’t even hear you.

–          I’m going to do everything to correct the situation.

–          I’m sure we can work it out.

Whatever you do don’t let the customer make you defensive.

She is angry at the situation, not you.

What you want to do is focus the anger.

Ask questions. Questions help control the dialogue and get the information you’ll need later on to solve the problem.

–          Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

–          When did you buy the shoes?

–          By any chance do you have the receipt?

You understand the customer’s feelings. Now reflect those feelings back to the customer.

Give feedback.

–          You know I can just imagine how frustrating this must be.

Summarize the facts just to be sure you’ve understood them correctly.

Now it’s time to deal with the customer’s problem.

Step number one:

Find out exactly what the customer wants you to do.

–          I want you to give me my money back.

Of course sometimes you can’t do exactly what your customer wants.

If that’s the case you should explain what you can do.

–          I wish we could give you cash refunds, but since the shoes were purchased on sale we can’t do that. But here is what we can do. We can exchange them for another pair, we can give you a credit slip or we can repair them for you at no expense.

Suggest alternate solutions.

Then try to reach an agreement.

The Weather Song (időjárásról, nem csak gyerekeknek) https://www.5percangol.hu/zenes_video/the-weather-song-idjarasrol-nem-csak-gyerekeknek/ Sat, 07 May 2016 14:59:25 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/the-weather-song-idjarasrol-nem-csak-gyerekeknek/ Weather is a combination of many things

It never stays the same; it’s always changing

Precipitation will come in many forms

Depending if the temperature is cold or warm

If it’s cold, you see, it could be windy

Blowing snow and sleet could make the roads icy

If it’s warm, you know, you could see a tornado

Watch the rain pouring down and see a thunderstorm show

Hey, the weather is the state of the atmosphere

Hot, cold, wet, dry, look into the sky

Hey, the weather is the state of the atmosphere

Stormy, cloudy, calm, clear, weather happens all year

Spin Around, Do the Tornado

Meteorology is the study of the weather

If we look at the climate we can predict it much better

Warm fronts, cold fronts, lightning and thunder

To find the temperature you can use a thermometer

Hurricanes form in the warm ocean water

The most powerful storm when compared to any other

Tornadoes are smaller, but the damage can be greater

A watch means it’s possible, a warning: take cover!

Dance like it’s windy. Dance like it’s warm. Dance like it’s cold. Now, dance in a storm.

Clouds come in many different sizes and shapes

Cold air rises and makes water vapour that creates

Condensation, then precipitation, here’s a cloud list:

Fog, stratus, cumulus, nimbus, cirrus

Lightning is striking at 50,000 degrees

I hear the sound of thunder and feel the cool weather breeze

Red sky in the morning – take warning of the storm

Red sky in the night – the weather will be a delight.

Cat Stealing Underwear https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/cat-stealing-underwear/ Mon, 11 Apr 2016 08:35:32 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/cat-stealing-underwear/ Pant-stealing cat burglar Brigit’s New Zealand crime spree.

Be it mice or birds, people with cats are used to them returning from their forages with “gifts”.

But Brigit, from Hamilton city, New Zealand, has a different obsession.

She has an affinity for men’s underwear and socks.

Brigit, a six-year-old Tonkinese cat, prowls the streets of Hamilton, New Zealand, every night stalking the neighbourhood clotheslines, and often places her treasures on her owner Sarah Nathan’s bed in a proud display.

In the past two months, Ms Nathan has discovered 11 pairs of men’s boxers and more than 50 socks that she didn’t recognise. The cat likes to steal the socks in pairs.

The story has been social media catnip since Brigit’s owner, Sarah Nathan, posted a photo of her cat burglar’s collection in a widely shared Facebook post.

“Now it’s getting silly. Someone must be missing this stuff,” she said in a post shared more than 500 times.

Ms Nathan told the BBC that the trouble first began when she started discovering “odd pieces” of underwear among her washing.

“They didn’t belong to anyone in the house and one day Brigit walked into our lounge carrying a sock like a kitten,” she said, adding that Brigit’s unlucky victims were probably a nearby flat “full of blokes“.

The family said it had also started distributing street flyers.

“Keeping cats indoors isn’t common in New Zealand,” said Ms Nathan.

“Brigit doesn’t hunt birds or wildlife so it seems unnecessary and our neighbours have been very good natured about it.

“But we are moving to the country soon so hopefully she will run out of opportunity!”

Little House on the Prairie video https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/little-house-on-the-prairie-video/ Tue, 02 Feb 2016 09:05:50 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/little-house-on-the-prairie-video/ Once upon a time a little girl named Laura traveled in a covered wagon across the giant prairie. She traveled with her Pa, her Ma, her big sister Mary, her little sister Carrie and their good old bulldog, Jack. They were searching for the perfect place to build themselves a little house.

One day after the little family had been traveling across the prairie for a long time, Laura and Mary woke up earlier than the sun. They ate their breakfast of cornmeal mush and hurried to help Ma wash the dishes. Pa was loading everything into the wagon.

When the sun rose, they were driving across the prairie. There was no road to drive on, so Pat and Petty, the two gentle mustangs, waded through the grasses.

Later that morning, Pa said ”Whoa!” The wagon stopped. “Here we are!” he said. “Right here we will build our house. Laura and Mary jumped to the ground. All around them there was nothing but prairie.

Right away, Pa and Ma began to unload the wagon. They took everything out and piled it on the ground while Laura and Mary and Jack watched. Then Pa drove the wagon into the prairie, out of sight, to get a load of rocks from the creek bottom.

Laura was a little frightened to be left on the prairie without the wagon. She wanted to hide in the tall grass like a little prairie chicken. But instead she helped Ma, while Mary sat on the grass and minded baby Carrie.

Soon Pa came back with a load of logs. For days and days Pa kept hauling logs. He made two piles of them, one for the house and one for the stable. When he had enough logs, it was time to build. Pa began the house first.

All by himself, Pa built the walls of the house three logs high, and then Ma helped him. Log by log, Pa and Ma built the walls higher and higher. Soon Laura couldn’t climb over them any more.

Then one day Pa was off hunting, and he came home whistling merrily. “Good news!” he shouted. Pa had met a neighbor on the other side of the creek. His name was Mr. Edwards, and he was going to help Pa finish building the house. Then Pa would help Mr. Edwards build his house.

Early the next morning, Mr. Edwards came. He was lean and tall, and he bowed to Ma politely. He told Laura he was a wildcat from Tennessee, and he could spit farther than Laura had ever imagined anyone could spit. Laura tried and tried but she could never spit so far or so well as Mr. Edwards could.

Mr. Edwards was a fast worker. In one day he and Pa built the walls of the little house as high as Pa wanted them. They sang while they worked, and their axes made the chips fly. They cut a tall hole for the door, and square holes for the windows.

Laura couldn’t wait to see the inside of the house, and as soon as the tall hole was cut, she ran inside. Stripes of sunshine came through the cracks in the walls and went across Laura’s hands and arms and feet.

At the end of the day Mr. Edwards said he would go home, but Pa and Ma said he must stay to supper. Ma had made stewed jackrabbit and steaming-hot, thick cornbread with molasses. Mr. Edwards said he surely did appreciate that supper. Then Pa took out his fiddle and began to sing.

Suddenly Mr. Edwards jumped up and began to dance. He danced like a jumping-jack in the moonlight, while Pa’s fiddle kept on rollicking, and Laura’s and Mary’s hands were clapping together. Pa played and played, and Mr. Edwards danced and danced.

Finally Mr. Edwards said he must go. “Play me down the road!” he said. So Pa played, and Pa and Laura and Mr. Edwards sang with all their might until Laura could not hear Mr. Edwards any more. Only the wind rustled in the prairie grasses, and the big yellow moon sailed high over the new little house on the prairie.

Who is who in the story? Do you remember the names?

1. The neighbor who comes to help building the log house.

2. The smallest child, the baby.

3. The big sister.

4. The middle child.

5. The two horses.

Queen’s Speech 2015 https://www.5percangol.hu/egyeb_video/queens-speech-2015/ Fri, 25 Dec 2015 18:50:44 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/queens-speech-2015/ Queen Elizabeth gave her traditional speech to the nation this afternoon where she touched on the threat of terror as well as the birth of Princess Charlotte.

Her address went out to the nation at 3pm Christmas Day.

Here is the full transcript of what she said:

“At this time of year, few sights evoke more feelings of cheer and goodwill than the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree.

The popularity of a tree at Christmas is due in part to my great-great grandparents, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

After this touching picture was published, many families wanted a Christmas tree of their own, and the custom soon spread.

In 1949, I spent Christmas in Malta as a newly-married naval wife.

We have returned to that island over the years, including last month for a meeting of Commonwealth leaders; and this year I met another group of leaders: The Queen’s Young Leaders, an inspirational group, each of them a symbol of hope in their own Commonwealth communities.

Gathering round the tree gives us a chance to think about the year ahead – I am looking forward to a busy 2016, though I have been warned I may have Happy Birthday sung to me more than once or twice.

It also allows us to reflect on the year that has passed, as we think of those who are far away or no longer with us.

Many people say the first Christmas after losing a loved one is particularly hard.

But it’s also a time to remember all that we have to be thankful for.

It is true that the world has had to confront moments of darkness this year, but the Gospel of John contains a verse of great hope, often read at Christmas carol services: ‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it’.

One cause for thankfulness this summer was marking 70 years since the end of the Second World War.

On VJ Day⃰, we honoured the remaining veterans of that terrible conflict in the Far East, as well as remembering the thousands who never returned.

The procession from Horse Guards Parade to Westminster Abbey must have been one of the slowest ever, because so many people wanted to say ‘thank you’ to them.

At the end of that war, the people of Oslo began sending an annual gift of a Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square.

It has 500 light bulbs and is enjoyed not just by Christians but by people of all faiths, and of none.

At the very top sits a bright star, to represent the Star of Bethlehem.

The custom of topping a tree also goes back to Prince Albert’s time. For his family’s tree, he chose an angel, helping to remind us that the focus of the Christmas story is on one particular family.

For Joseph and Mary, the circumstances of Jesus’s birth – in a stable – were far from ideal, but worse was to come as the family was forced to flee the country.

It’s no surprise that such a human story still captures our imagination and continues to inspire all of us who are Christians, the world over.

Despite being displaced and persecuted throughout his short life, Christ’s unchanging message was not one of revenge or violence but simply that we should love one another.

Although it is not an easy message to follow, we shouldn’t be discouraged; rather, it inspires us to try harder: to be thankful for the people who bring love and happiness into our own lives, and to look for ways of spreading that love to others, whenever and wherever we can.

One of the joys of living a long life is watching one’s children, then grandchildren, then great grandchildren, help decorate the Christmas tree. And this year my family has a new member to join in the fun!

The customary decorations have changed little in the years since that picture of Victoria and Albert’s tree first appeared, although of course electric lights have replaced the candles.

There’s an old saying that ‘it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness’.

There are millions of people lighting candles of hope in our world today.

Christmas is a good time to be thankful for them, and for all that brings light to our lives.

I wish you a very happy Christmas.”

⃰ VJ Day = Victory over Japan Day, 15th August

Who or what does the Queen refer to with the following sentences?

1. The popularity of a tree at Christmas is due in part to my great-great grandparents

2. ‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it’.

3. At the end of that war, the people of Oslo began sending an annual gift

4. ….. ‘s unchanging message was not one of revenge or violence but simply that we should love one another.

5. And this year my family has a new member to join in the fun!

Salesman: Certainly, sir. Ready in the flashiest of flashes. There.
Harry: That’s great.
Salesman: Not quite finished.
Harry: I don’t need a bag, I’ll put it in my pocket.
Salesman: Oh, this isn’t a bag, sir.
Harry: Really?
Salesman: This is so much more than a bag.
Harry: Ooh! Could we be quite quick, please?
Salesman: Prontissimo.
Harry: What’s that?
Salesman: A cinnamon stick, sir.
Harry: Actually, I really can’t wait.
Salesman: You won’t regret it, sir.
Harry: Want to bet?
Salesman: ‘Tis but the work of a moment. There we go. Almost finished.
Harry: Almost finished? What else it’s gonna be? Are you gonna dip it in yogurt? Cover it with chocolate buttons?
Salesman: No, sir, we’re going to pop it in the Christmas box.
Harry: But I don’t want a Christmas box.
Salesman: But you said you wanted it gift wrapped.
Harry: I did but…
Salesman: This is the final flourish.
Harry: Can I just pay?
Salesman: All we need now…
Harry: Oh, God.
Salesman: …is a sprig of holly.
Harry: No, no, no, no. No bloody holly.
Salesman: But sir…
Harry: Leave it. (Karen walks up.) Ooh!
Salesman: Loitering around the jewelry section, I see.
Harry: No. I was just looking around.
Salesman: Don’t worry. My expectations are not that high.

Mary Poppins – The Magical Bag https://www.5percangol.hu/film/mary-poppins-the-magical-bag/ Wed, 04 Nov 2015 20:36:21 +0000 https://cmsteszt.5percangol.hu/mary-poppins-the-magical-bag/ Jane:This is your room, and there’s a lovely view of the park.

Mary Poppins:Hmm. Well, it’s not exactly Buckingham Palace. Still, it’s clean. Yes, I think it will be quite suitable. Just needs a touch here and there. Well, first things first. I always say, the place to hang a hat is on a hat stand. Ah! This will never do! I much prefer seeing all of my face at the same time.

Michael:There– but there was nothing in it.

Mary Poppins:Never judge things by their appearance. Even carpet bags. I’m sure I never do. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Mmm, a little more light, perhaps.

Michael:We better keep an eye on this one. She’s tricky.

Jane:She’s wonderful.

Mary Poppins:Much better! Now, let me see. That’s funny. I always carry it with me. It must be here somewhere.

Michael:What?

Mary Poppins:My tape measure.

Michael:What do you want it for?

Mary Poppins:I want to see how you two measure up. Well, that’s the funniest thing I ever saw. I know it’s down here somewhere. Ah, ha-ha, ha-ha! Here it is. Good. Come along, then. Quickly. Head up, Michael. Don’t slouch. Just as I thought. Extremely stubborn and suspicious.

Michael:I am not!

Mary Poppins:See for yourself.

Michael:”Extremely stubborn and sus–“

Mary Poppins:Suspicious. Now you, Jane. Mmm. “Rather inclined to giggle. Doesn’t put things away.”

Michael:How ’bout you?

Mary Poppins:Very well. Hold this for me. As I expected. “Mary Poppins. Practically perfect in every way.”

Jane:Mary Poppins! Is that your name? It’s lovely.

Mary Poppins:Thank you. I’ve always liked it.
