Teenager charged with assault after football fan jumped onto keeper’s back as he put ball down for goal kick
A teenager has been charged after Wycombe goalkeeper Jordan Archer was attacked in the closing stages of his side’s 1-0 League Two win over Gillingham. The 19-year-old keeper, on loan from Tottenham, was placing the ball prior to taking a goal kick when a ________________ entered the field and leapt towards him at the Priestfield Stadium last night.
The fan was quickly apprehended by a steward and led away. Kent Police ______________ tonight that a 17-year-old boy, from Rochester, has been charged with common assault. He has been freed on bail and will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on March 12.
Gillingham manager Martin Allen was furious ________________ the game. He said the supporter’s actions were ‘absolutely _________________’ and that they were ‘not a true reflection of our football club.’ Matt McClure hit a 85th minute winner for Wycombe as Gillingham missed the chance to ______________ to the top of League Two.
