Easter Candy is a huge part of the biggest celebration of Spring! Although chocolate bunnies and chocolates eggs are present everywhere around the world, here are some Easter treats typically consumed in the UK and in the USA.
Peepsare marshmallow candies, sold in the US and Canada, that are shaped into chicks, bunnies, and other animals. There are also different shapes used for various holidays. Peeps are used primarily to fill Easter baskets, though recent ad campaigns tout the candy as "Peeps – Always in Season".
Jelly beansare a type of confectionery that comes in many different (primarily fruit) flavors. They are small (the size of a red kidney bean or smaller) and generally have a hard candy shell and gummy interior. The confection is primarily made of sugar. Most jelly beans are sold as an assortment of about eight more or less standard fruit flavors (red: cherry, cinnamon, orange: orange, ginger, yellow: lemon, clove, green: lime, wintergreen, purple: grape, black: licorice, white: vanilla, mint, pink: strawberry). Some premium brands, such as Jelly Belly and The Jelly Bean Factory, are available in dozens of different flavors, including berry, tropical fruit, soft drink, popcorn, and novelty ranges in addition to the familiar fruit and spice flavors.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cupsare a brand of chocolate candy filled with peanut butter, marketed by The Hershey Company. They were created in 1928 by Harry Burnett Reese (H. B. Reese), a former dairy farmer and shipping foreman for Milton S. Hershey. During the seasons when retailers offer holiday candies, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are offered in unique holiday-related shapes. These various shapes still offer the standard confection theme of the traditional Reese’s cup (peanut butter contained in a chocolate shell). Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs – Available mainly during March and April, these are egg-shaped confections representing the Christian holiday Easter. Exterior packaging is usually yellow and orange (milk chocolate), white and orange (white chocolate), or dark brown and orange (fudge-flavored chocolate). This is the only holiday-themed item available in three various chocolate varieties. A larger, individually-packaged Easter Bunny Reese’s peanut butter item, known as Reester Bunny, is available as well.
