Talking about your family – Beszélj a családodról!

A következő – nem csak kezdőknek szóló – leckéből megtanulunk a családunkról beszélni.

Talking about your family

family, család

Since I moved abroad, I usually visit my hometown about once a year. This year, I was in town for about two weeks at the end of July and, of course, we had a family get-together. It was not a family reunion, as there was only my immediate family, but still there were at least 25 people who showed up.

These get-togethers are always held at my parents’ house, because they have enough space to accommodate many people. We never have formal dinners. Usually everyone brings something to eat or drink. This year, for example, my aunt Mary, prepared a huge tin of lasagne, while my uncle John brought cakes and ice-cream cones. Unfortunately, while we were having dinner, there was a blackout, so I and my cousins had to go to get some ice to keep everything cool till the electricity was back on.

There is always a lot of talking and laughing. This year, as always, we brought up old childhood memories and funny anecdotes. It’s really great to be a part of such a big family!

A házassággal ‘szerzettrokonainkat angolul ‘in-laws’nak nevezzük. A ‘law’ szó egyébként törvényt jelent. Nézzük tehát az ‘in-law’inkat:
