October 12, 2021 – William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the cult classic Star Trek, is set to journey into space for real aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. At 90, he is the oldest person ever to travel into space.

After nearly a lifetime playing Captain Kirk in the Star Trek television series and spin-off movies, actor William Shatner is set to “boldly go where no man has gone before”.

Shatner will be joined by three crew mates aboard the Blue Origin New Shepard NS-18 – Audrey Powers (Blue Origin’s vice president of missions and flight operations, and a former NASA flight controller), and Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries (two paying customers).

At 90 years old, he will become the oldest person to ever travel into space – fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

The rocket will blast off from West Texas on October 12, sending the crew on a 10-minute journey. It will reach altitude of 106km – just beyond the Kármán Line, the most widely recognised boundary of space.
